I have a parkzone T28 which i have been flying for a year, I also have a H9 Alpha 40, I am ready to move up to something sporty. I was looking at the CMP giles 40 size at nitroplanes
and was wondering if i would be in over my head even if i had an instructor hooked up to me and flew on low rates, I fly my 2 present planes with no problems, They just don't do what i want them to do! My other thought was a Pulse! I am just wondering if i have learned enough low wing flying skills with the Trojan or does it not count cause it is foam and a park flier?
Ok now what do the experts say?
Thanks Dave

Most 40 size Cap type planes are small and twitchy - you may want to go with more of a 4 Star type plane or the Pulse 40 would be a better choice in my opinion -

At your stage you will find a 'low wing trainer' like the Pulse easier to fly than a high wing w/ lots of dihedral.
Pulse is a good option, you might like the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBMZ5&P=ML]GP Venus 40.[/link] (I love it!) for easy flying and very aerobatic. Flies with a .46, flies much nicer with a .55.
CMPro plans come with lousy instructions, hardware, and covering. They are a headache for inexperienced builders.
My recommendation is to save the scale aerobats for after your first or second low wing plane. They have some bad tendencies you may not be prepared for (tip stalls, instability, etc.)

Go for the Pulse or something similar first then step up to some sort of high-performance, sport-scale aerobatic plane. You'll be surprised at what the Pulse and similar designs are capable of.

Actually that Giles is a surprizingly capable flyer with wonderful docile landing and takeoff characteristics. It's also a bargain and a half at the price it is sold for.
I've put together three thus far, and people have purchased them from me on first viewing at our field...
However as stated it is not a second tier plane.
The Pulse IMHO is a much better option and it WILL keep your interest for a long time.

I have owned and flown a Pulse and 4*40 and wouldn`t hesitate to recommend either to you. A Stick in a tail dragger configuration would be a good choice as well. Don`t worry about the transition to a tail dragger. Just be ready for a little right rudder!
