RE: Larger Revolver
Mine arrived today. It looks great, the pictures online really don't do it justice.
I mounted up the OS 1.10 and I'm not sure what to do about that giant muffler. I really don't want it sticking out of the cowl. OS makes a 60 and 90 degree adapter that I might be able to use but I hate the idea of all sorts of plumbing for the exhaust. I don't see a specific in-cowl pitts muffler for the engine but I'll do some research and see if one for another engine might work.

RE: Larger Revolver
Looks like the Keleo Pitts is for inverted mounting so that's not going to work. I'll call Slimline and J-tec, hopefully they have something. If not, I will have to try the OS adapters or build something myself.
My other idea is to put the 1.10 in my TF P-47 using the Keleo muffler then put the YS -91 from that in the Revolver. I can just use a straight, open pipe on that engine which makes for a clean installation.
Off to see the family right now though and get a little fatter.

I too have the .76 gms, and I think maybe it may be too small. My next choice would be either the GMS 1.20, or the super tigre 90.
I would really like your input as what you think may impact my decision. If I were to go with the 90, would the 635's (83 oz/in torque) be alright?
THANK YOU AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

RE: Larger Revolver
I'm with ChuckW. Unless you want insane speed, I bet a .76 is fine. It will probably get you 100+ mph. Like I said before, my OS .55AX gets me 100 mph on the smaller revolver, and a .76 is probably proportionately sized for this plane.

why not put a tuned pipe on that engine ..

FP,
The GMS 76 is way too small for this bird. I'm sure it would fly "ok" with it .. But lets face it .. we want to scream this thing out. I have 40 + planes that fly 3d and slow ... time for speed. It's a very slippery plane so no doubt the .76 would push it
I choose the .90 ST cause I just bought it for a Mustang last week and had it on thr shelf. lol I feel that the .90 size motors will perform nicely in this .. the rpm is high .. when going to a 1. 20 rpm will decrease as thetorque increases.

what kind of RPMs do you want to see on the ground with this engine?

RE: Larger Revolver
How fast do you want it to go? 110? 120? Then maybe a .91 or a 1.20 is for you. As for me, my 91 4-stroke will get me 90-100 mph, which is fine for me. That's still faster than a 3D plane, wouldn't you agree?

RE: Larger Revolver
Speed is good, but, from the small revolver, I learn this plane is hard to slow down for landing. Looking at the vid on the company website the OS 91 four stroke pull the large revolver through the air at a nice pace. Now if some of the hot pylon pilots take the small or large revolver, put a tune pipe and racing engine in, I would like to see the number from a speed run!!! I ran the fuel out on the small revolver one day and I still roll of the end of our runway and its 430 feet grass strip!!!

The 1.10 is a 4-stroke. Macs does make a 4-stroke pipe sytem but I want it clean with the smallest openings possible in the cowl and as little as possible hanging outside the airplane.

Ahhh .. my mistake.. I thought it was a 2s.
Yes ..I wanted mine clean too so I ordered a pitts style muff instead if the big swivel one that came with it.

I'm hoping to get 14k static out of it. When I maiden it I'll try a bunch of props to see what's the best.. I'm thinking 12X8 or a 13X5.5
I want speed , but also want good uplines so I will sacrifice some speed for it.

Yes .. one of my buddies tried to talk me out of this plane. He just maidened someone's .40 and said it came in extreamly hot. But I'll just program a landing mode with spoilers .. link spoilers to throttle.. when low throttle max spoiler , mide stick no spoiler so I can bail on an aborted landing..
I've seen your posts on the .40 size. You seem to like this airframe. I can't wait to get my .60 up .

RE: Larger Revolver
Sonny,
Also .. I race pylon .. The quickies do about 120 to 130 .. viper 500/ thunder tiger .40 pro/ 9X6 prop that's all anyone can run in our circuit. www.nepro.org
I'm temped to run this in the sportsman class where you can fly anything. I would hate to wreck it in that type of race though. I came in 1st place during one heat, the heat was over and the guy in 2nd place came from behind and sliced my whole tail section off my plane .. ouch....

RE: Larger Revolver
I did the spoilers trick on my Revolver 46, and it works quite nicely. It's not impossible to slow the plane down, but sometimes it takes me one per two passes to do it. =)

Do you fly in N. Haven? Swampflyers?
That's my main club I fly at .. If the weather holds out I'll be there on Saturday.

Yes I am with the Swamp Flyers. I actually maintain their web site. I probably know you by face. What do you normally fly there? Maybe I'll stop by Saturday, although the way it is raining today, I'm not too hopeful.
