RE: Gas motor for ultra lite stick 120
Zenoah G38 at a minimum I would think.
In my opinion ... I would consider these somewhat equivalent
17-20cc gasser = Four-stroke 80-90 or Two stroke 55-70
26-30cc gasser = Four-stroke 100-120 or Two stroke 70-80
36-38cc gasser = Four-stroke 125 or Two stroke 90-106
40-45cc gasser = Four-stroke 150-160 or Two stroke 110-120
50-55cc gasser = Four-stroke 180 or Two stroke 130
Anything larger than a 180 four-stroke I would only consider a larger than 60cc gas. Personally I love my Saitos but due to fuel economy and other reasons, with today's fuel cost, I would go gas on larger engine application. 125 or less four-stroke, I'd stick with a nitro/glow. I don't think there is enough data to support a choice of a small (<38cc) gasser.
Again, just this man's opinion.

I fly the 120 lite on a G26 Zenoah Mag version. It will do any trick in the book............yes it will 3D hover..........the pull out is a little slow but it does just fine. One of the new 30cc would be a perfect fit power and weight wise in my book. Both the Syssa 30cc and the DLE are lighter than my Mag G26 and would improve the vertical pull out for sure.[8D]

i would rank the 30cc gasser (dle) in line or above the os 160fx 2 stroke glow

Gentleman
I also have a Ultra Stick 120 size I'm running a 26 size gas engine on it.( size prop either 16"or 18" )
Especially because it is rear carb and the engine is on 3" spacers, I had to use a larger than I wanted ( sub C 6 voltbattery) in the tail to balance it though. Plenty of Power. Flies for 40 minutes on 20 oz of fuel @ 2.70 a gallon
The plane calls for a 180 4 stroke so;
Comparision 180 Saito (1.80 cu. inches) = 30 cc remember that and any other comparision is easy

RE: Gas motor for ultra lite stick 120
I wish I could buy an Ultra Stick 120, it is not in production anymore. I have an UStick 60 with an OS 120 on it and it is a blast. The servos and battery are rear mounted so it balances perfectly at about 7 1/4 pounds. I have a Syssa 180 (30cc) gasser coming in and with 18 pounds of thrust with the standard muffler, 28 with a pipe, it would move the UStick 120 very well.

I know the h9 120 size was discontinued but I found two just recently I did sell the other to a friend. I did a GOOGLE search and most of the dealers were out of stock. but Atlanta Hobbies had two. I bought them both.
You might try if you want one try the same thing, a dealer may even though they are discontinued

I found one in Houston, but they did not want to ship it or take credit cards. How does the Great Planes Giant stick compare, since it is available? It does have the quad flaps like the UStick.

This engine seems to produce a LOT more thrust than equivalent gassers from other manufacturers.
It would be perfect for your 1.20 Stik.

RE: Gas motor for ultra lite stick 120
I started with a G26 mag version and then had an RC Ignition conversion done to it. I cut 3 inches off the nose first. It has unlimited vertical.

RE: Gas motor for ultra lite stick 120
Properly setup the MVVS/EVO 26 gasser, Zenoah G26, SYYSA 30, or DLE 30 will out pull the Saito 180. I own the MVVS and Zenoah and they will both SPANK my Saito 180. Both of the two gassers will turn a Mejzlik 18X6 carbon prop in the 9's (the MVVS will turn it over 10,000 with a pipe on it haven't tried the Zenoah with the pipe) and the Saito on 30% heli fuel will barely make 9 and most days won't do that good. In fairness, it takes the right muffler to get into the 9's on the two gassers but it's not rocket science and not expensive either. Ralph at RCIgnitions does a fine G26 that he lightens and puts EI on. Real brute of an engine, durable as well.
I've seen several USL's with MLD28's on them and they had enough thrust to hover and pull out. I haven't personally owned the MLD so I can't say what they make for thrust but my MVVS piped at 10,000 on the Mejzlik makes just over 21lbs. That makes a USL go ballistic from hover.
