OK. All up weight w/o fuel is 16lbs. 9 oz. Not sure what the Keleo exhaust added. The prop hub is 6 3/32" from the firewall at the center line. Hope this helps. Too windy here to fly today.

Nick, thanks for the update on the CG. Keeps us posted on your progress. Unfortunately I won't get to my ESM P-51D until later this summer so I can't provide any results/data.

Cheers! Giddyup

Nick,
Thanks for all the info, it will sure help whenI do mine... Are you happy with the Keleo exhaust, how does it sound compared to a stock exhaust? The DLE 30, does it give you the power you were looking for? Just trying to see how she flys with that set up..

The Internet sure is a great tool for our hobby. I remember year ago you went it on your own and maybe some suggestions from club members, the trial and error method... Now if you do your computer homework, you can pretty much have a tack driver from first lift off.. Good stuff!

Just don't set it up with the CG more than 140mm back!! At 130mm, I still needed quite a bit of down trim. Have someone stand next to you ready to dial in the trim. You'll do great !!

well,
I am having the same problem with my p 51 d, i thougt i was doing something wrong having all this down trim on the elevator
for the moment i have the cg set at 146 mm from leading edge but this thing goes up faster then a hot air balloon
i will try the cg at 130 as you suggested, i also checked the wing wich was at + 1° maybe this is the problem i am wondering if the other esm's have the same problem
i also have a topgun spitfire which is a joy to fly, but this mustang is giving me a fit
at least now i know i am not the only one with this problem
regards
dirk

The incidence on my wing is +1/2 degree. It's the same as what the TF Giant Scale P-51 is. If I fly straight and level, then cut the power, the plane continues on forward for a bit before starting to fall off. So, I don't think the engine needs any changes to up/down thrust. Might just be the nature of the beast. Could also be that we are flying it faster than scale speeds.

Any pics of the keleo exhaust install? Is it a direct install, or do you have to fabricate the tubes from the motor exhaust manifold to the scale outlets?
Interested in this setup, but would like to hear if the system is too restrictive and the how it sounds compared to a good pit style muffler.

Thanks,
Alfred

No fabrication required, but you have to do a bit of trimming and tweaking, of course. Here are a few shots of the install....

That scale exhaust looks really cool. Can't wait to see some video of it in operation.
Thanks for uploading the pics!

Just a few pics sent to me in the fall. The exhaust for the DLE 30 was fabricated on this very engine. My friend supplied his engine to keleo late summer for fabrication. I have seen the fininshed product and it is amazing. I have the bald eagle III, DLE 30 and Keleo exhaust. BTW the offsets came from Keleo.

Nick,
What prop are you using?

Need help!

I replaced the RCGF 26cc engine on my ESM P-51 with a DLE-30. Using the stock standoffs/mounts I have a larger gap between the spinner backplate and the cowling, which I can live with. My problem is that there also seems to be LESS space between the cooling fins and the firewall now. The Keleo Pitts muffler from the RCGF 26cc will not fit in this reduced space.

Further, looking at various other makes of Pitt's wrap-around mufflers, they all look to big to fit. I have about 1.5" between the back of the fins and the firewall. I did see where JTec has a "compact" 1.25" canister for a DLE-20, and they told me they could also make this fit a DLE-30.

Any suggestions here? Right now I'm flying with the cowling off while I break in the -30. But at some point I'm going to want to make it look normal...can't fly around forever like this!

BTW, I also noticed the plane was tail-heavy at the recommended CG location. Took a lot of nose-down trim. Even with the heavier DLE-30, it is still tail-heavy.

Hello

I have a question to see of anyone could help me with. After installing a reversing "y" harness with my DX8 using the AR8000 no matter what I do my flap servos always buzz and they seem to draw an amazing amount of amperage. I have redone the linkages several times, replaced the servos, now I am convinced the harness must be the cause. Does anyone know how to set up a 4 servo wing with the AR8000 and the DX8???? I am not sure where to plug everything in.

Look for threads that demonstrate the reversing of servo wires. Good luck!

I would do away with the y harness and just plug them into seperate channels, then set up your radio for flaperons. That is how I do it on all my radios. Check your manual for the setup details.
