I was given a Decatalon ARF kit by a friend and found it had a cracked cowling ,NO big deal . Then I stared to build the kit and found the wing tubes were so loose in the pockets. So I called them and was told they don't have any replacements in stock. Alsotold cowling would be 2 months before new ship ment came in. Then the guy said i could put vaseline all over the tube and plug the end and fill the pockets w/ epoxy etc. Well I said I should not have to do this ,and asked for a replacement set. He said he would go toa hardware store and look for something to send me, well 3 weeks went by and still nothing, so I called again and was told all he had was the same tube I had and refererred back to the epoxy fix? Well I don't want to be responsiable for the tube and pockets not being perfectly aligned and was told that was all they could do for me??? I asked to speak to someone else and a Mr Erwin came on and said to use electric tape on the tube, I again said I felt I should not have to mickey mouse this on a kit that was not cheap, his reply was that I recd the kit free and what was I complaining about? Well with that attitude from the owner of the company and lack of concern for his customers I will never recommend nor buy any product from this Lousy company. Another complaint:
I also found the white covering to be some strange covering that the wrinkles are very very hard to remove , I have been modeling since the dope and silk span times and consider myself preety good at covering etc.

Yup, that's a classic Irwin response. The more things change, the more they stay the same...

One of my flying mates had one of their 55" P-47 ARFs.
"If you need parts you have to purchase a whole new kit. We don't stock parts for these."

He has since given it away to another clubmember, who has made many mods to it and finally gotten to the point where it flies reasonably well.
It is still a pain to land, though - the wheels are placed too far behind the wing LE + the h-stab is undersized & partially blanked by the huge fuse.
Land too fast and it noses over (wheeldrag)
Land too slow and it noses over (not enough low-speed elevator authority to put the tail down)
He's also had a replacement cowl on order for a month now.
:shrug::
