Default Alpha Trainer RTF DX5 System Problems

Well today at the field I believed I had a brown out or lockout. I was training someone with the RC Club of Embry Riddle and I did a touch and go and didnt have control of the plane. It bank over hard and I held full opposite direction to save it and I had nothing. At the last minute I got it back and saved it. Almost past out since it isnt my plane it is the Club's plane. The plane is stock how it comes RTF. I am thinking upgrading to a 6 volt battery instead of 4.8. The batteries were fully charge and the antennas were fine. I was curious to know if anyone else has had this problem. If I have to I will just throw a Futaba FASST in there before I loose a perfect trainer to this or upgrade a RX.

I lawn darted one that belongs to our Club due to a situation like this. I'm an Instructor and took an Avistar with a Spektrum 5e and an AR500 out for a trim flight before a student arrived. The plane was about 100 yards directly in front of me and climbing when the radio beeped at me 3 times and I had....nothing for controls. I had only gotten to about 40' up when it locked on up elevator and did a loop at 3/4 throttle straight into the (thankfully wet) ground. I haven't flown that one since, nor will I again.

I fly my own Alpha II with a DX6i and the stock AR500 and have never had an issue.

A newbie at my field had this same problem last summer, except the plane was totaled.
