CG Ultimate question

I was just wondering if anyone else beside me bolts on the top wing to the center struts ? Rather then using the stock POS pin system they give with the kit ? I've built about 50-70 CG Ultimates (over the last 13 years or so) for myself and other people that have wanted this airplane. and everyone of my customers has loved this setup!
So i thought i wonder if anyone else does this to their kit aswell ?
....also have done this with the GPs Super Skybolt

I use the pin, but it's not durable long term. My holes have enlarged over time. I tried some foam tape to snug things up. Your set-up would be much better. More like the 60" Dave Patrick design.
BTW, I'm totally baffled by the suggested balance point. My airplane is currently at the most aft position and it flies very nose heavy (per nsrca precision trimming guide and my own thumbs). When I calculated the range as a percentage of MAC, it was something like 12-18%. I double checked my calculation and it was correct.
What gives? Why is the suggested range so far forward?

You say 12-18%.
How far back from the leading edge of the bottom wing is that? I just flew my Ultimate today after moving it to the recomended aft position, what a difference. Im wondering how far back I can go safely.
I built it to use the pin in the top wing but it would rattle at certain rpm, changed it to bolts into the strut after beefing up the wing where the bolts go through.
