Hello!
Recently, I was on a trip, and (naturally) had to stop by a hobby shop. They had a few Escapeds for $110, and I just had to pick one up. Unbelievable prefabrication - everything's hinged, fuel tank is built, engine mount installed....
This scares me. I don't know if they have skimped on quality in areas, because everything is already done, and they somehow managed to make it cost practically nothing!
There were several notices included, and replacement parts bagged, obviously due to previous issus, and there are a few fixes noted on Tower Hobbies. I don't usually buy ARTF's, so all these technical addressments make me want to see if anyone has found anything else. I have heard rumours of quality problems.
Has anyone had any issues with this plane?Any changes I need to make?Parts to replace?
Thank you
Graeme

I have been flying my Escapade with Magnum engine for a year and it is a great plane-my favorite. There is long detailed thread in this section on the Escapade and I suggest you read it.

Thanks -
I found one thread that addressed an issue regarding elevator flutter. I just finished adding some more CA on the hinges for added strength, as there was not all that much glue on them.
Either way I just finished building it (only two days of work!) and plan on flying it this weekend.
Thanks again,
Graeme

I have 10 arf's in my hanger. Everything from WW2 warbirds to cessna's. My Escapade is by far my go to plane. The darn thing flys like a trainer and can handle anything I throw at it. It lands slow and stable.I've powered mine with O.S 40 la and O.S 46ax. This is about as good as your gonna get for a hundred dollar ARF! I'm gonna buy another one just as a back up.

You will love this airplane, It flies wonderfully well and it's hard to beat for a hundred bucks. You have already taken care of one problems which is ca on the hinges. Ther were some cases of the elevator pulling off. I epoxied my wing together and epoxied on the tail feathers. Just makes for a stiffer plane. Install two aeileron servos so you won,t be trying to pack all the gear above the floor plate. This lets you install the battery under the floor. The front cowl sides will vibrate wildly if you don't epoxy in a cross brace to tie them together, just in front of engine mount. I run an OS55AX in mine and thoroughly abuse this plane and she hauls the mail. Enjoy.

Thanks for the advice!
I was going to go fly it yesterday, but I had an engine issue.
Which reminds me:
How does it fly deadstick?
