Default Fastlink connectors

For the last few years, I have used connectors that only need a single right angle bend (I think they are called fastlink)omstead pf a Z bemd. , without failur until a couple of days ago. The fastlink came loose on the rudder (just after the motor cut) and I landed without mishap, but it sure unnerved me.

I don't really want to change out this control rod if there is a good way to secure the fastlink (have thought of a small rubber tube like is used on the control servace end to keep the clevis secure. Any problems with this. Are fastlinks a dangerous route to take?

I wouldn't use them without the rubber tube keeper

I have lost several fastlinks in flight. I noticed it while on the ground. Fortunately before the control rod came out of the servo arm. My solution was to use a wheel collar on the control rod after it passed through the sevo arm. Just make sure you use Loc-Tite on the wheel coller set screw.

I use a piece of silicon fuel tube as a keeper as mentioned by w8ye - never had a problem.

In all these years, I've never had one come off but I use the tubing over the connector

Also the USA made ones are not made for metric push rods
