I picked mine up today at lhs. It does look impressive , i got the red and white one and the ultra coat is great. My first Senior was the kit form i cant believe how they have improved with this arf version. I mostly fly the big gassers but this will be a fun plane for calm days and for the new club members to have a fun airplane to learn on. I am putting the RCV .58 up front, and i know i will have to add a bunch of lead up front . The motor weighs around 18 or 19 ozs with muffler. I am putting a alum landing gear on mine making it a tail dragger , should be fun allready have everything hinged and putting servos in now in the wings.

Nice choice BAS. That's the same one my friend purchased and his is a tail dragger as well. I'm training him on it as he has yet to solo. I get to take it off, fly it around a little and then hand him the controls. When fuel is running low, I take it back and land it for him. A real nice flyer. I fly electric planes as well and it lands easier than most of them.
Good luck,,

I will stick with my new rcv .58 this is a fun fly plane something to relax with when i dont feel like flying my Radiocraft extra 330 35% with Brison 6.4 up front. Anyway does the plane fly unstable at that cg how sensitive is elevator at that cg I was thinking of around 4 to 4 1/2 inches back instead of what they recommend . Thanks for the info any way . Bruce Oh by the way the guys on the forum say it is real tail heavy at the recommended cg and have to add a lot of lead up front with a 60 or 70 four stroke. so if i could move cg back a ways it would cout down on the amount of extra weight i will have to put up front any comments ???

Bruce,
My friend for some reason or another, way OVERPOWERED his and put an MDS .78 up front. That being said, the plane flies nicely at 1/4 throttle. As I've said, he has yet to solo, so, I get the chance to fly it a whole bunch. Watch the elevator, on his,,it's really sensitive as I think he has way too much throw on it. You might want to go with the recommended throw rates or even tone them down a bit. If you have a computer it's a lot easier to do. That big control elevator control surface is plenty.
Oh BTW, even with the monster of an engine he has up front, he still needed to add a lot of weight on the firewall to get the recommended CG where it needs to be. I would shoot for that first, then experiment with it a bit,
good luck, ,keep us posted,

A great airplane, mine is also a taildragger, used a 4* 120 gear and a Sullivan tail wheel. I fail to see why so many people want to over power this plane. A Magnum 46xls or the 52xls make a good combination. I trimmed 2 inches off the tail of the fuse and re-built the stab so the rudder and the elevator hinge line are the same. With a 46 xls Magnum and some extra rudder it will knife edge, try that with the old kit built. Put a set of wheel pants on it and it will look like something out of the late 30's and 40's.

This is a great plane for someone to learn on! I purchased one about three months ago for my two daughters who want to learn how to fly. It is a very easy flying airplane and one that is excellent for teaching new pilots. I placed the OS .46 and it flies very nice.
A club member placed the OS .61 up front and has had nothing but a great time learning how to fly. Good luck and enjoy.

Flew the Cadet today with a 1800 nicad up front and rcv .58 mounted and aluminum gear it required no additional weight up front. Measured cg at 4.5inches back. Fly very well motor is very tight yet but after 4 flights it started running better with a better idle. Using Omega 70/30 blend 17% fuel. Its a fun plane to relax and have fun with tounch and go landings ect. This thing lands at a crawl no complaints except of course the junk for hardware used all solder and Sullivan links with horns from Central Hobbies cant think of the name of them but they are all alum. and very easy to mount. Over all very happy with the plane.

Don't just fly it on calm days as it can handle a bit of wind. Once in the air turn it into the wind and reduce throttle and watch it fly in place.
Using the larger engine helped to balance it without the need of additional weight.

Like i said in previous post i fly alot of giant scale 35% and such for some reason i am having a blast with this cadet and the rcv .58 Its not a real powerhouse but for the Kadet its ok. Took out my FLip 3d today flew it once and flew the Cadet 5 times no wind made about 20 or touch and goesa and had a ball.
