Greatplanes Giant Super-Sportster build..
1st : Hinging the rudder
I used the CA+ material that came with the GSS.
I cut it in pieces of 25mmx25mm .
I draw a center line so that will guide me while i install the hinge on the fin.
(...halfway inserted )
I have this Robart tool that really helps you drill CENTERED holes ...
I drill a small hole , like 2mm , on the centre of every hinge to all the CA+ thin to wick inside easily...never failed so far !

2nd :
Hinging the elevator halves
Hinging the x2 halves of the elevator
is relatively easy... again i cut x8 ( x4 per halve ) CA+ hinges with 25mmx25mm dimensions.
I mark with the green marker the centre of the hinge and drill a small hole
so as to be easier
for the CA+ thin to wick in...
The only *drawback* of assembling a giant model
is the fact that any part of the airframe is HUGE
and that makes assembling a bit difficult .
FEx handling the elevator halves trying to insert it over the installed hinges on the elevator
IS difficult....
But ok..... with a bit of effort...
You also see the way i store my rc parts ...
And you also see the engine i will use !
It's a Homelite weedeater converted engine

painted with this nice green colour.... the name of her is * Green Hornet* [X(]

3rd : Installing the tail servos
I will use x2 Futaba S3152's digitals for each elevator half
and x1 Hitec HS-485HB for the rudder .
Install is fairly easy but i have to point out that the Hitec servo
and the one of the Futaba S3152's
that is located on the opposite side of the fuse come in contact.. [:@]
So i must find out how i will install them...
Any suggestions ?
As far as the *connections* i will stick to a full-threaded 4-40 rod
and use Dubro 4-40 Safety Lock Kwik Links ...
Horn will be a Dubro Large Scale "t-Style"...

-> as you see i also use this , not so complicated ,
method for marking which lead belongs to what servo...
Just a piece of paper and some transparent

Wait a minute. I expected a Chinese or Vietnamise workshop. This is ARF assembly, not building.
They finish up pretty all the same.

Actually Charlie
the problem in not binding between the two servos that are installed
on the same side of the fuselage.
The problem has to do with the servo for the rudder and the one elev. servo
that is installed exactly on the opposite side of the fuse...
These two come in contact (....there case i mean , on the bottom side )
and don't let them seat correctly on the servo space
so as to mount them

..another big dilema is the capacity of the fuel tank i'll use..
i guess i'd stick on the stock supplied one with an appropriate gas stopper ?
or what ?

I get over 20 minutes at half-throttle & slightly above with my 34cc using the 420cc tank as supplied.
Why did you decide to mount the engine upright? Looks like it's much less streamlined than the more conventional inverted install.

Charlie i understand !
Well...
At first i was thinking of installing the engine upside-down,
because in the past i had good luck with such configuration.
BUT when i tried to test-mount it the muffler had no clearance whatever i did.
The fuselage sides protrude a lil' bit and this makes the problem...
I was thinking of aluminum stand-offs but the engine is already heavy as rock ,
so if i'd install her using stand-offs
that would make the airframe toooo nose heavy and would lead to unecessary tail weight for balance.
Me2 i believe the inverted way was nicer and elegant,but.....
Ofcourse it's not that big deal to turn it over, but who knows where i can find small stand-offs,
like 2cm or 3cm long ?too small, isn't it ?[:-]

20mm standoffs - from Chief Aircraft
Also: 1.2cm to 6.2 cm (each of the "spools" comes with three various thickness washers for C.G & clearance adjustment)
These are my two favorite suppliers. Don't know if they do international/

RE: Greatplanes Giant Super-Sportster build..
Hey?? That's where it ends??
C'mon!
Did the engine ever get inverted? Was he able to find the correct standoffs and/or show the guts to cut into his plane a little? All over the world, people wait with bated breath for the answers to those questions......[X(]
