Planes with wing tubes....
#1
Ok, do to the limited size of my car I can either fly smaller or get planes with a wing tube. I was just wondering what is out there with a wing tube? I'm open to Ideas and was just wondering who was flying what and how they liked it?!
Its 62" from the back of my car to the back of my seats.
Thanks in advance!!

I just received a Seagull 1.20 Spacewalker for my winter project. 82" w/s with plug-in wings. I've always thought it was a cool looking plane. Using a Aerovate 26 I picked up from TBM for $169. $448 for plane & engine...cant beat it for the size of the plane.

I am flying a hanger 9 Ioledo Special with a 2 piece wing. It was a snap to finish and is a joy to fly if it is not to windy. I had to beef up the tail wheel this week maby a better mounted wheel will be needed not sure yet. It is much easier to transport and store than my other planes

most 1.20 size planes will fit the 63" lnth limitation.
Nearly all aerbatic aircraft and most fibreglass fuselage arf's in that size will have wing tubes.

Ok,
Thanks for all the tips.
Car = Ford Escape, I could fit larger BUT I usually put a plane in the car before work so I can fly on the way home. So, it gets a little ride during the day. I'm good with sport/scale/areobatic , pretty easy going , I like planes in general. I'm just checking around for a good winter project.

I drive a coupe which has made it challenging to step up to 50cc like I want. Its probably better for my wallet anyway...
Anyhow...Im able to put my rear seats down and slide planes in through the trunk. After that got old, I just started placing them on the passenger seat, with the seat laid flat which was much more convenient.
I also carry my planes to work if I plan on flying after. I just take a large contractor bag cut open, or a sheet/blanket of some sort and lay it over the plane while parked. Keeps people from being too curious!
If you were a really dedicated flier, you would do what my flying buddy does. He transports his 50cc planes on the roof of his car! I can only imagine the looks he gets. I guess im personally just not that serious about the hobby!
The kicker is his wife has a big SUV. I guess we all know who the boss is huh!

I'm kind of an after work / sometimes week end fly'r so not overly dedicated! LOL I converted my Hangar 9 Frenzy to electric so I could just throw it in the back and fly, kinda cool.

I have a 1995 Honda Civic that I just pulled all but the drivers seat out and I can fit my KMP Tigercat, Flight box, Fuel, etc. plus a .40 size BalsaNova with a 56" wing. I was going to trade the car off for a transport trailer but pulled the seats instead. Food for thought.

........If you'd like a very user friendly WARBIRD
I recently build and already put a couple of flights,
on a BlackHorse P-36A Hawk ARF !
Check my gallery and my build thread !
I was very astonished with the quality of the airframe and parts/accesorries!
The wing uses a wing tube from aluminum for rigidity
and you can either glue it in place (..as i did )
or you can make a mod to make the wing x2 pieces...
But the wing itself isn't too big.
