I'm working up a 182 with a Saito 56 for power. Seems like a very well designed and thought out plane. Is there anything that I should keep an eye out for? Anything that you would suggest doing differently? The only thing so far that I'd like to change is the push rod arrangement. Suggestions? Comments?

I had one with a 52fs and enjoyed it. The vertical stab on mine was weak and the wood cracked in flight. Only took a couple of minutes to fix and patch the monokote. Watch out for stalls. That is how I crashed mine. It looks so scale flying low and slow that I forgot to watch my airspeed. This plane needs a little speed to fly, maybe the small wing area. Am thinking of buying another, they are a good model of a nice looking civilian plane.

Not one to leave anything alone with a little "modification" I'm thinking of putting flaps onto the ole' Cessna. Has anyone attempted this as yet? If so, how did the plane perform afterwards? Thoughts?

I put flaps on mine and it performed admirably. It was easy to do, just cut on the same line as the ailerons (before you join the wings) and add balsa filler.

Mine was powered by a OS 52FS (11-8 MA prop), good engine for this plane - your Saito should do very well.

Just don't do low level aerobatics with this fine ship...

The noseleg is a little weak. If your landings are anything but perfect, it will bend the noseleg. You might want to try a fultz leg, or a stut like jonathans. Look for the other GP cessna 182 thread, a few pages back from this one.

Mine flys great. Low n slow is best, it looks very scale. I would like to try flaps, but it flys well without them. I am thinking about making some scale antennae to cover up the wing bolt holes.

Mr. Swill- I just ordered one yesterday from Tower, back ordered till about month end, no problem. Am going with YS .53 up front. I would like to add the flaps, as we have a relatively short, paved runway. Did you use one or two servos? Standard or mini? Thanks for the help.

Do you guys think that a Saito .60 Twin would be enough power for this kit, or maybe the .90 twin?
