Fly it like you stole it ;)

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gifYou ever do a move and a buddy says, "what was that and how did you do it".. I will look him right in the eye and say your plane can't do it, I got an adjustable pitch stab and the set up is for advanced pilots only....http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

I am stopping at Gander today to get my shark leader, already got the brackets like the guy used on yours.. I will just tweak the rigging a bit...http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

The cowl looks pretty dang good for what it is, there is some ugly on the cowl vents and it is gonna stay like that too..

Pretty happy with mine, set it up so that the cooling cowl extracts all the heat out where the pitts twin tips exit. Still need to tidy up the wiring and fit the mej.
Looks good, keep me posted on the maiden.. Whats under the hood on yours and what size spinner did you go with?

Jimbo,
MAN THAT LOOKS GREAT!!! On the Smart-fly, Be sure to beside if you want the power EXSPANDER or the power SYSTEM.... Yes, there are 2 different types! Exspander is UNREGULATED and the SYSTEM is regulated. I go wit the System as its regulated to 6 volts. You can also use the pin-Flag or the Slider switch to shut motor down. I had a DLE 55 on mine and was running a Zoar 21 x 8...... We can NOT run it wide open, BUT what it does do is helps the break-in a lot nicer and you are NOT overloading the engine ANY!! It had INCREADABLE PULL at half stick!! So I decided to just stay with that prop EVEN after break in, It was just that good!! Let me know if you need anything else..... ALSO, Your stuff should ship mid Aug. is what they are telling me......
CHEERS!

Gerry,
thanks a bunch, I know getting them to take care of us in the US is like pulling teeth...
Picked up all my wires and other things yesterday, after flying tomorrow it's shop time... Glad to here on the DLE-55, I am also using the Zoar on mine.. Went a bit bigger for break in, 22x8 and also picked up a 23x8.. They sure do make a nice prop for the money don't they... Thanks again for getting Gw to take care of it and letting me know..

I'm happy with the 22-8 on mine, Xoar also.

Wrung it out some today, Club has a Giant Scale fun fly, After a comedy of errors,, rolled the plane out, Oops didn't plug in the batteries,, rolled it out again, for got to plug in lower left aileron, that's what happens when people take to you when you're putting the plane together.. Plane flew great now that I got the tank issue straight. I broke the gear on my Extra so I'll be flying the Pitts more until I get it fixed,, tough life I know

What Extra?? Size? I have a 50cc and a 30cc Carbon fiber gear..... Just thought I would let you know.

Yeah, it takes those funny sweep back type like the GP Ultimate does,, Pretty lame that GP cheeped out and used what the had laying around instead of making a correct "scale" part

BTW, I was in Oshkosh last Tuesday and saw this,,,, Might redo in a scheme like that if I strip the black off this winter

Gerry,
I'm a little confused.. On the Power Expander Ithought it is regulated to the RX, this is the one I was thinking of going with... http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/QPEP10.htmlScroll to the bottom for the specs..

Scale,
I stopped at GM and got all the stuff for my flying wires, going to install them tonight.. I did get rigging couplers and planned on adding a quick connect to one side on each so I can adjust them, see any problems doing it like that? I figured it would make life easy to get out some of the warp on the stab...
I went with 4-40 and will use a good quality QC, other then being a little ugly, I thought it would work out good...

RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.

Jimbo,

NOPE, That one is UNREGULATED! Smart-Fly has 2 versions out.

**The Power EXSPANDER is UNREGULATED**

**The Power SYSTEM is REGULATED!

ALso I could have gave you a better deal on your servo extections. Where did you get the servos from?? I sell those also.

What you need is a EQ-6 Power SYSTEM!!

OR the Smart-Fly PowerSystem Sport Plus

RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.

On the "power expander pro" the RX power is regulated to 5.0 volts,, all the servos get full voltage from the battery, so you want a regulator if using lipos without high volt servos, I use A123s without a regulator.

Which one did you get?

I see no problem with the couplers,, they work for pull pulls

Mustangman40 08-09-2012 04:55 PM

RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.

I got it now, the expander pro is regulated to the RX only, not the servos.. The Power System is regulated to the servos if you are using lipo's...

I'm going with the power expander pro, it's a $100.00 bucks cheaper and I am not using lipo's, just 6.0V Ni-cads.. I know the batteries I'm using are old school, but they never failed me and I can leave them on trickle so they are ready to fly when i am...

Gerry, Thanks for the offer.
I got all that stuff from my LHS, I try to buy all my stuff from them to make sure I have a LHS to go to...http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif

Scale,
Went with the smart-fly PE and pin switch, I really like this unit for the same reasons you do, thanks for turning me on to it.. Oh, them bonded washers are great as well. I can see using them on a lot of different things....http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif

Sounds good! Feel free to show us your set up, always good to see how other do things..

Well the dang school I was doing is now done and I have time to work on the pitts, praise be to god..http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif

I ordered better hardware for installing the aluminum servo arms and made a simple little jig for getting them straight, I programed my servos and got them centered.. I think this will help out a bunch when tweaking everything, I tapped the servo arm as well as the nylon wheel, then back it up with a locknut. I was able to use 4-40 button head caps 3/8" long with a 4-40 locknut and still have clearance on my servo. The Hyperion servos I am using, use futaba arms.. I have some futaba disks that give me plenty of meat to screw the aluminum arms to.. Anyone see a problem doing it like this? I really don't feel like dishing out $100 bucks for servo arms, but will if folks don't think my set up is up to the task.. I never had a nylon disk fail nor ever heard of any body having one fail.. Thoughts!!! I also got my props drilled out and mounted along with the spinner, it's looking like an aeroplane now!http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif

My factory pin hinges lasted one flight on the rudder so beware if you use std hinges, i have a feeling mine were damaged when "freeing" the glue after install (i use the brand "hinge" glue). Never had an issue before yesterday but the new robart ones are fine and seem much better made.

I'd flip that around too, that geometry is going to produce a lot of expo.

Sad news,, I zigged when I should have Sagged and my Black Pitts is toast,, that's what I get for talking to someone while flying
