RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.
The maiden is done!!!!!!!!!http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif Everything went well with the first flight, pretty smooth actually.. I have a few things to tweak, the throttle curve is still not right, way to sensitive and I need todo a little moreprograming on the Elv. servos.Only had one flight, so iwant to check everything and make sureall is tight...Folks were taking pics like crazy when she was up, so I will post some in flight pics when i get them. Ialso need to tweak the motor some, the idle is a little high. The roll rate and knife edges wherepretty awesome, but we didn't do to much on the first flight. Thanks for all the helpguys, I sure do appreciate it..... Jimbo</p> |
RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.
Got a question for you guys..
What did yours end up in the weight department? Also, what kind of R's are you getting with the DLE55, low and high? |
RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.
What prop are you using??
|
RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.
coopster88 meet gjhinshaw, and Visa versa,, gjhinshaw has the wing tubes you need
I ran a 22-8 Xoar,, never tached it,, flew awesome though at around 18lbs,, it's a lot of plane |
RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.
YEP!! Great prop! I flew mine with a 21/8 for break in. After break-in I decided to just leave it on..... I fly at 1/4 throttle and never over 1/2!! It seemed to be easier on the motor. It didn't shake the plane bad at all!! I can go high but it revs pretty hard so I don't stay there for more than 10 sec. Anyway, this is just wha I used. My other I have a 20 in prop with a 8-14 pitch!! Its also very nice.

RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.
I'm swinging the Xoar 22-8 as well.. The plane flew great with it, I just need to getit toidle a tad lower.. A few adjustments on the needles should do the trick.. It ran great but I was at 2400 on the low end, I could get it down to 19-18'swith trim but it would load up.. It was also about 35 degrees cooler out then the last time I ran it and this field is at a higher elevation as well...
Turning the top wing into a one piece wing really worked out well for me, the hatches worked out great and hid the wires how I wanted. Pretty happy I did the extra work on that........http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif Any of you guys have smoke on yours? I was thinking of adding a S.S. over the winter, there is plenty of room for one... Oh, my batteries ended up staying where I had them for the first flight. i didn't do much inverted flight, but she did nice slowrolls and didn't drop her nose on the inverted side. If anything, my ignition battery will move forward, but the RX batteries are staying put... I just have them all on velcro right now, once satisfiedI will gluein some light ply with strap rings and get the tieddown better... I also did away with the stock servo arms and went with good 1.5" aluminum arms, they are the type that have three screws holing it on, much stronger... Jimbo |

RE: Goldwing 50cc Pitts Python V3.
I put 4 more flights on the Pitts yesterday and she flew great. I made the changes on the elv and got them right on the money, also re did the throttle linkage and tweaked the needles on the motor. She is purring like akitten at idle and roaringlike a lion when you openher up..lolhttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif
Had a pretty stiff wind down the runway and she was off the ground at 1/4 throttle, just a pretty scale like takeoff.. In the air there is no shortage of fun, the plane tracks great.. Rolls are quick even on low rates and inverted flight needs very little if any elv. input.. Knife edge doesn't need any elv either and does she do pretty ones, fullfield is apiece of cake.. The rudder is also very effective, it's a winner all the way around... Now that everything is all tweaked and flying great, it looks like the weather is about done for flyingthis year...http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../sad_smile.gif All in all, I couldn't be happier on how it all turned out.. I still have a few things to address over the winter and I plan on putting a smoke system in, if anyone has one on theirs, would love to hear about it... When my new cowl gets here I will put on a wrap around muffler so i don't have to cut it up.. With my current set up cooling is a non issue, I took a reading after I landed and it was at 171......http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif Set upat the field isproving to be as easy as it can be for what it is. I leave theouter strutsattached to the lower wing panels and with the one piece top wing, it's a total of 8 screws, not to bad at all... I might start bringing a table with so I don't have to lay on the ground... Thanks again guys for all the help,I ended up with a winner because of it......http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif Jimbo |
