Cherokee .40 size question

Does anyone knowhow the Cherokee .40 size plane will fly with a OS 40 engine, is it a strong enough motor to fly this plane, it is the only size engine I have at themomentfor this plane...
Thanks for your comments....

ive never heard of an OS xp... if its a 40 fp, it will fly it but you will need to get some good ground speed before you try lifting off.... if you are a beginner i suggest you let a more experienced pilot test it out first

thanks MetallicaJunkie, actually the xp was just a typo..lol.. I'm not a beginner pilot, an intermediate pilot at this point in time...
was hoping the 40 size OS would have enough power for this plane... I guess I can always put in a 46 size...

A friend had the old, kit built version. It flew well on a 40fp.

If you fly it "scale" I think you will be ok.

Long ground run before take off and no insane verticle moves without plenty of recovery room to build speed back up.

that little 40 is barely enough for this airplane and when you need the extra power to get you out of trouble you wont have it to spare..at the least i would do a 46AX with the max a 55AX engine. I've had both engines in the cherokee and the 55AX was excellent , unlimited verticle are real beast.

Exactly!

I have an FA-80 as you see and i find the power just right.

I have one with an OS 55AX, way more engine than it needs. Years ago the ones built from the kit, pre ARFS, flew fine on a 40.
