i need to get another cowl and would like to invert the engine. fuel drools out of the carb then runs down the bottom of fuse :( think inverting it would fix that?

from what I can see,it should be side mounted, with the valve cover on the right side, then the exhaust would point between the landing gear? if there are thrustlines scribed on the firewall this should be easily done.

regarding the 61 2 stroke,
I dont own this aircraft yet,so my input is limited. With biplanes the drag is enhanced..the waco is a scale aircraft not designed for unlimited flying.on level flight the power is surely sufficient, but in my opnion with past experience the up lines will suffer. One roll vertical and she will probably stop climbing anf fall off and downward.a fourstroke is probably a better choice in this plane, then you can play with prop sizes in the larger range, that have less pitch.just my input...

nitro wing,

A 1.20 would be way overkill for this graceful bipe! If you want 3d, get a 3d plane. My Magnum .91 4 stroke with an APC 14x6 will keep it going vertical (this is a LIGHT plane!) and the best flying is at about 1/3 throttle for scale realism.

The word from Kangke (they make the Monocoupe 96" arf) is a WACO is in the pipeline; I suppose it will be larger than the 60 size; check with them. JIM

Well>>> after months of not getting to fly my WACO 60 yesterday here in NY it was nice and I had some free time for a change.. I decided to Taxi my WACO around the field ( just 2 other people there), wanted to see how it handled down the runway. Was gong to have one of the more expert guys fly it first and check the set up. So I take it out and take it down the runnway (grass)... tracks nice.. Second time a little more speed tail lifts off, I push it back down with a little elivator. Great... third time... Same thing >>> Well great idea>>> Just got a little too much speed and the WACO decided it wanted to take off... !!! OOHHH S*#t ... Off course I was going a little slow and it almost tip stalled, it did a quick left turn at about five feet of the ground. ( In the background I here "YOUR COMMITTED NOW TAKE IT OFF"!!!!) AAAAGggggg >>>> ease on the throttle.... rudder and aleron>>> little too much>>> some back the other way... WWWOooooooo were ok ... It's going up nice and level. Well... I was flying!!! Minds racing OK whats it doing... Doesn't seem to be too bad... Climbing a little... ( whats that vibration ? OH thats me shaking!!! calm down everything seems fine.) WOW >>>> 4 clicks of down on the elivator... at half throttle and I was hands off. Few flights arond the field to get the nerves calmed down. Perfect three point landing.... TWO guys saying that was wild... Laughter and High Fives... TIme to check my shorts... didn't drop a load... Another great day at the field... PS Oh yea two more flights... rolls / loops and other fun things... GREAT PLANE!!!

Just for info... The saito 100 is way more then enough motor on the Waco... 91 would be way more then enough...

BULL,

That's great! If you haven't reinforced the landing gear supports on this plane, please do it before you fly again. Others have mentioned this and I did nothing to mine until........after about four flying sessions it happened!! On a reasonably nice landing the gear just rolled up under the plane wiping out the front/lower fuselage and damaging the lower wing. After looking it over (it's easy to see how it's made when there's a gaping hole to view through), the only support for the landing gear plywood plates are the balsa stringers and thin fuselage sheeting!! I e-mailed Global support and told them the story that Saturday evening and on Monday I had an e-mail shipping notice from them for a new fuselage, lower wing, and tail group....no charge. They have great customer support - thank heavens!!!

If you can tie the two vertical plywood formers on either side of the landing gear plate to the plywood "crutch" above with hardwood and then coat the entire landing gear support structure inside and out with 30 min epoxy, I believe it will hold. That's just what I've done to the new fuselage. It's really hard to get to everything inside, but it's worth the effort if it prevents the large amount of damage that I had.

This is a beautiful, classy bird and I would still buy another even after this experience.

I have a Magnum .91 4str on mine......way more than it needs but flying around on 1/3 throttle is really scale-like! Good luck with yours.....let us know how things progress with your WACO!!

Some updates on the WACO, I moved the CG to 4 3/4" from the leading edge and the plane is very easy to fly... Also added a pilot, Barbie aviation also came with a little Snoopy which will go in my 30 sz Waco. Here is a pic and Vid.

Wang, Is your 30 size complete and flying? I have one also and plan to put an OS 25 in it. You think that's enough? Sounds and seems like it could be a handful on the ground and in the air. Your thoughts or anyone else's please! If the 60 size is on sale for 175 I might get one of those too. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Hello I saw the picture of your Waco. Mine just came in form Globle. It looks great. Have you had any problems with the landing gear?

I did have problems with mine! I had it break loose. I have heard that the new kits were reenforced. I would check yours. Otherwise great plane. Couple tips make it a touch nose heave at first and also for the first flight it doesn't need much elivator or alerons.

Is this the big UPF7? I have one I bought at our club auction and not flown it. It has a FPE 40cc on it. How does it fly and any hints? Is it gentle with incidences in the instructions? Thanks.

RE: Kangke Waco

Yes the Tan one above is the Kange Waco large one. It flys great and if you follow the instructions you will ahve no problem... This post is 3-4 years old and I still have mine and fly it all the time. This plane is still one of my Faverite... Good luck you will love this plane it is very well built.

Thanks. I will follow instructions about incidence. Also, how critical is thebalance on this. I will use the suggested range but did not know if to use the middle of the range or one extreme or the other.

RE: Kangke Waco

I've moved Mine back a little since the beginning. The plane is easier to fly a little nose heavy but lands a little faster. Just like all planes the more tail heavy the more touchy they are... On landings with it tail heavy it slows right down to a walk but in the air the sticks are more touchy it's just a matter of how crazy you are with the plane... I would recommend keeping it to the nose heavy side and then go the other way after you get used to it.
