1st time gas eng. user

I'm wanting to build a edge/extra or similar w/ DLE 30cc. I have never had anything w/ gas engine before, just GLOW., . I'm guessing I'll need two batts, some kind of kill switch, etc, Not sure what else.?? Any advice on your setups would be appreciated.

Also, what planes are you using w/ DLE 30cc, for good aerobatics and some 3D.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

You don't have to have 2 batteries. This is also your kill switch.

Since your in the ARF/RTF forum I assume you are looking for an ARF. When you say "build" most modlers assume you mean a kit. Aeroworks sells three 30cc ARFs through Tower Hobbies. There are of course others.

I warn you though... this is just going to lead to 50cc:D

Welcome to the world of gas engines where models stay clean and fuel is dirt cheap, but be prepared as once you go gas there is no turning back to glow :)

Karol is absolutely correct. I started a Waco build a couple year's ago and did not want the oil all over it. So I went and bought me a gas engine. The day I started it on a test stand was the last day I ever touched glow. Sold everything I could not put gas in and bought bigger aeroplane's to accomidate gas.

Welcome to the clean and cheap side.
P.S. An ARF,ARC, and RTC is not a build. It is an assembly.

Any of the 30cc's from Red Aero, Pilot RC (Chief Aircraft), 3D Hobby Shop all fly well.

You need a power source to your ignition as well as your reciever. I power both on my 50cc stuff off a single 2300mah A123 from WrongWayRC.com , he makes them with two leads.

A couple of heavy duty switches, one between the battery and the reciever, and one between the battery and ignition. I also highly reccomend an optical kill such as the RCExcel sold by www.rcextremepower.net as a way to kill the engine from the transmitter. This will kill the engine with the flip of a switch, or if reciever power is lost, or if the radio system goes into fail safe. This lets you shut the motor off if there's a throttle linkage or throttle servo issue as well.
