which engine for which plane?

I have an o.s .46 la and an evolution .46nx and I'm not sure which plane would be better suited for which engine "big stik .40 and super sportster .40" Any thoughts?

The LA has less power.........I think the Stick might be more fun with more power?

Higher wing loading on the Sportster than the Stik. The LA is a weaker engine than the NX given both engines are in good shape. I would put the NX on the Sportster and the LA on the Stik.

The NX is new and the LA is lightly used but in great shape.

Are the mounting holes the same? If so, put them on and fly them, then you will find which is better suited for you and if necessary, switch the engines.

Engine problems on the Stik and you can float it in right to the ground. Engine problems on the Sportster and you can float it for a short period of time before it stalls. That plane needs to be flown in to land compared to the Stik. It's not bad but there is a difference and if this is all I had to work with I'd put the stronger engine on the Sportster.
I'd rather have an overpowered Stik (I have a few) as that will be more fun in my opinion and you could fly the Sportster with the weaker engine but I wouldn't do it. LA engines  are good for trainers and Cubs.

Your sending conflicting messages here lol,the la has enough power to fly either one so why not? Tailskid had a good point, yes they are the same I can just see which I like better myself. Thanks

Nothing conflicting at all. You are missing the point . You asked which engine would be BEST for which plane. Either engine will "fly" either plane BUT  the better engine should be put on the plane that needs it most to keep it in the air, not because it's the most fun.

I'd do just the opposite.

The Stik has a wider flight envelope, including 3D and would be a blast with the higher power engine with the right prop.

The Sportster would benefit from more scale like flight. While it may not glide as far as the Stik, it still will glide very well with the lighter LA engine and cowl.

You end up with two dissimiliar planes for variety...
