ARF of the year for 2003?
Is there a clear winner? Man, there was a bunch of ARFs released this year. What's your vote?
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Yup, there was a clear winner by a long way, the H9 Funtana :D
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Here are my votes:
Composite-ARF Extra 2.6M, one of the best 100cc IMAC planes out there now available at a competitive price. Great Planes Christen Eagle, can't find a better quality plane for 400 bucks anywhere. |

Not released this year, but had to throw it in the mix. I still have to go with the Pitts. 400.00 and the covering is a real eye catcher. Built well and flies great.

RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Well Great Planes really seems to be on a roll but if threads and replies equate to votes the hands down winner has got to be the Patty Wagsaff 1/4 scale Extra. 6000+ repies between the two major threads on this plane says something abut its popularity.

RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Hangar 9 - Ultimate 46%
Huge, Beautiful and Awesome in Flight |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
I second the gp extra 300 Wagstaff edition.

RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
I'd say it's Pacific Air Gee Bee Y..Nice lines and a true fun plane to fly, with a G-26 gasser up front...Got my vote................
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
I too think it should be the GP PW extra. Those two waggstaff threads BaisnBum is talking about does have allot of info about the plane but they also have about as much BS in them too.
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
I agree with Tigger. Gotta be the H9 Funtana. Most fun you can have for $149.00 .
How ya doin' anyway Tony? I been carrying a Funtana canopy around in my jeep for a month now just waiting to run into you again! |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
H9 Funtana.
If everyone had a chance to fly one they would all agree, IMHO. I would like to see a .60 size. |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Well, my vote is between the 1/4 scale Extra 300 " Patty Wagstaff" or the U Can Do 3D .60 size, both from Great Planes.- I beleave those plane are in the top 5 or 10 Best Sellers of 2003
Besides, so far no ARF brand beat the quality of constrution and finish of Great Planes ARF's. Regards, Miguel |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Although it is just being released,Dave Patrick just rasied the bar with his really detailed Super Cub.The scale detail is unbelieveable!Check it out on his web site.As far as the ARF'S released so far I would go with the Great Planes Eagle.[8D]

RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
I second the H-9 46% Ultimate.
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Well I've got the funtana and the patty so I would have to say the patty is the plane of the year, Hands down.

Hmm? On the other end of the scale (Non aerobatic), I would chose the H9 150 size Skylane. Beutiful surfaces and the plane fly's great.
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
OK, here's my 2 cents! GP is on the roll.....The Christian Eagle and the UCD-46 for planes RELEASED in 2003 with the Funtana close behind.
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
I gotta say H9 Funtana.
If my financial looked better, I'd probably be saying GP C-Eagle or H9 Ultimate. But in the TailTwister price range it's the H9 Funtana. |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Don't forget the GP Lancair. I fly the more scale planes, so the Lancair is my pick if the year. I do have to admit that the Funtana, Wagstaff, and U Can Do have gotten quite a bit of attention.
|
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Let's not forget the H9 80" CAP that for some reason H9 decided was'nt worth the effort. This is one sweet flying plane with the aerobatic characteristics of a drunk buzzard and the landing habits of a butterfly.
Happy Turkey Day! Loopman[sm=tongue.gif] |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
I would like to through in another vote for Great Planes PW Extra. It is a great flying bird and looks great too.
Lee PS I have a H9 Funtana on order :D |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
Miguel Santana,
Have you ever seen a Yellow Aircraft ARF? They are made as well or better and look as good or better and fly as well or better than Great Planes designs and have for several years. They were the first mass produced high quality arf's, excluding the Hobie Hawk. |
RE: ARF of the year for 2003?
My vote goes to the Funtana too. First had a Saito 72 in it and my Saito 100 will be here tomorrow. What a great bird for learning some 3D!
