RE: question with compatibility

Felix, the Avistar MK II AWARF is the discontinued model. It had plastic add on wing tips on the wing and hor. stab. The Avistar 40 II MonoKote ARF is the current model. The wings are interchangeable. As to weather you can join two halves from different models, I don't think so. Unless I'm mistaken, the older model may have used a metal tube in place of the wooden wing joiner and was held together with screwed on straps (as opposed to glueing together). Like the Superstar wing. Joe

RE: question with compatibility

I beleive on the RTF model they still might use the metal tube. And the ARF uses a ply joiner and epoxy instead of the straps. But either wing should fit either version. I was missing parts out of my ARF and when I called to get them to ship me the parts, they needed the model number because they said that some have different parts.

I think he is looking to buy just a wing half and was wondering if the halves can be mixed and matched. Joe

Yes it is.

RE: question with compatibility

I would think if he left out the metal tube and epoxied them together it would work. They both have the same thow settings, and are the same size.

I was wondering about the tunnel for the joiner brace. Joe

RE: question with compatibility

You could if you needed too. But you would have to reslot and rehinge it all. But all the electronics and the engine would work fine. I picked mine up for 95, but had already bought everything else for another plane. And most of the other hardware would work too.

RE: question with compatibility

It just came to me. They interchange them at the factory all the time. I bought the ARF. When I got it, some of the steps were already done. Engine mount, landing gear mount, servo tray were all installed. Also to tube holes and switch were cut out already as well. And these are things that are covered in the steps in the manual. So it just shows that my fuselage was one of the RTF versions. And thing thing I don't like is that the switch hole does not match the switch unit that I use.
