You've been on this thread for several months talking about the 'Bear', wondering how, where, and when it will come out. What kind of retracts would work...what kind of engine would be appropriate...etc.etc.etc.....and now you have an offer and don't want one because shipping is $20? You and Desert Toad ought to get together and sell your ISP monthly bill and buy one...save you both some time and money.......

BTW.....Now I know why team Dago rules.....less talk and more action (i.e. speed)....

Thats funny man..I actually cancelled my order at Quantum because Tower now lists it for 299.00 but I have the Tower Club deal and had a 20.00 online coupon for any order over 150.00 so my total will be 279.00 plus no shipping...so the laugh is on you! I am so cheap and hey..whats another few weeks? Now I can get an extra scoop of ice cream for the kids :D

see, had ya bought a Dago Red, youd be flying,

BTW, the the last I knew anyone could use the Dago Red name, Thats what I was told, maybe thats why it went over so fast. I asked permission to make a model and put the name on it ect. They told no problem it wsant trademarked , might be now.

hattend 08-18-2004 03:53 PM

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Strega is trademarked, too. Guess that's why you don't see too many ARFs of Tiger's ride flying around, either.

Just checked the Dago website, I don't see any "tm" after the name so I guess you're all safe.

If I wasn't getting married in 16 days, I would already have a Dago Red, but now that money is tight, I gotta go with the plane that I am helping to sponsor. :)

Go Bear!
Don

Well since Tiger retired (still brings tears....I can remember back in the good ole days when Skoal was their sponser....Free box seats every day, every year...now I mooch off Pepsi for the box seats)....maybe he'll sell the name!!! If it where a Strega, I don
t think I'd be waiting around...I'd have bought it the instant it came out!!

The Olympics come around more often than they ship these things out. I think all you Bear groupies should just chisel one out of a balsa tree, it would be faster than waiting for the ARF.

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

Good one. That wouldn't work because a balsa tree would still cost at least $20 to ship. Then we could all sit around and talk about how to get a better deal on that. I have a couple mustangs we could work with and turn into a Bearcat....would fly faster too!!! Materials may come out to $13.56 though....so that's a little pricey. Perphaps Team Dago should buy one of those Bearcat models out there and have Ed airbrush the scheme for us.....then we could make it truely scale by putting at least an OS 40LA in her...;).

RE: ThunderTiger Rare Bear

I looked at the RB kit at my Hobby Dealer and it is a very nice looking plane. One big question is the spinner that is supplied. It is a cast spinner that has been machined and slotted for a three blade prop. Is it balanced ??? I am afraid it might pose the same problems that the Little Tony had as far as vibration. Also a three bladed prop is going to decrease the efficiency considerably especially using a 90 four stroke. IMHO anything less than a 120 is going to be somewhat of a dog. The firewall must be installed by the builder and glued into place. Since the fuse is polyester you must use polyester resin and fibre glass cloth to glue it in. Epoxy will not work. Also requires that the fuse be cleaned thoroughly with Acetone to ensure that the mold releae is removed before gluing. I did not read the instructions so maybe this issue is covered. There is a removeable hatch on the fuse top that seems very flimsy. I am sure it is re-enforced somehow but could be a problem. I was ready to pull the trigger and buy the kit but think I will wait untill I hear from some of you that are building it---especially the spinner question.

Look forward to hearing more about this great looking plane

I just started to put mine together. Paid $300 + retracts etc etc. I've found that the TT kits are short lived flyers but going into the project with that in mind I don't have great expectations. I've always overpowered by planes and this one will be that way too. I'm thinking a Moki 1.80. BTW - I've got a Little Tony with a YS 110. This red sucker cooks! We've radared it at 144 mph. Fun flying and tough landing - although predictable she comes in really fast, will not stall down in speed and needs to be 3 pointed. Our runway is 600 feet long and I use most of it for landing

Harvey

I am having the same problem landing my Toni. 650 ft runway and use all of it plus about 200 ft of over-run. Going to try flapperons on the next try and see what happens. I also tightened up the wheels on the axle using fuel tubing as a snubber on each wheel which should help when it finally touches down.
