My Evo. 46 has that same problem. I put a bunch of loc-tite on it, but will probably put on a lock nut just for security.

I've been to Chicago since Monday and have been out of the loop. Took my laptop but never hooked to the net. Glad to here so many are having fun with the Twist. Would have like to taken mine to Chi but our schedule was too full. I think this plane instills so much confidence because you can slow it down so slow. You just keep trying new things and remember that altitude is your friend! Talk to you later. I need to get some sleep.

ddierking - I apologize. I had a typo. I'm using a 13 x 4 Wide APC prop, not 14". The 13 x 4 is phenominal. Tons of torque as well as fairly good airspeed if you wish. I probably won't even buy any alternatives as this one fits the bill.

Unfortunately, I seized up my rudder servo in the air last weekend. I'm going to have to get that fixed before the weekend. I managed to get it to the ground in one piece but it was a scare to say the least.

No problem dkurschner, I hadn't had a chance to go to the hobby shop to get one, but I will today. The bank I work for just opened a new branch next to one of the local hobby shops. It is terrible, but it is going to be my primary office to work out of, NOT! I hope I can afford working next to a hobby shop.

I just bought a Saito .82a and I though that the best prop for 3D fly was a APC 15x4 Wide. Did you tried the 15x4?

Abras, although I have a .63 YS on my Twist, I have a .82 Saito on my Pizazz. The Twist evolved from the Pizazz and is very similar. Maybe my altitude has something to do with it, but a 15x4 wood Pro Zinger was too much prop for my .82. Too slow to spool up. I'm running a 14x4 Pro Zinger. The YS has about the same power as the Saito. A 14x4W APC was too much. I'm running a 13x4W APC on it.

I bought my twist this past winter and first started off with an O.S. 46 ax. I found that i wanted more power for hovering so i went out and bought a satio 82 and put an apc 13x6 prop on it. Flys great. Also to add to the fun of 3d flying i put a smoke system on it. Just signing a 40 size plane smoke like that is the best thing i ever seen. plane still flys great even with the extra weight and will still hover with no problems. So if anybody wants some more fun and to be able to smoke with a 40 size plane put one on your twist. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

about 1.5 to 2 lbs. 4 oz of oil 600mah battery simple smoke pump.

I am at 910' above sea level and run a 15x4 apc on Saito .82 , spool up is slower but manageable. and you can climb, hover, or slip withing a click of each other. Clearance is an issue with 15x4
My Twist is on its second rebuild after i gave it away.
Problems with the .82 for me was short flight times. I have had the .82 and the .91 on the same plane and the .91 will fly it longer. And yes I know how to set up an engine.

I run the 14X4W APC on a Saito .72 and I love it. I use a 14X6 on my Magnum engine on a Funtana 40. The 14X4W on the Twist really helps to break its spead in diving maneuvers. You have to be careful on the landing though, not tooooo slow.

chadvone, I guess it's the elevation here. On all my engines, to get the rpm's others are posting, I have to drop one prop size. Some folks just go to the next size engine for sea level performance.

daniel, after flyin my sky raider (low wing)
os 46 ax apc 10x7x3 it was real hard to slow it down
had to use up the entire run way[:o]

so after that i guess i got cold feet and put the 14x4w back on the .82
i think it is time to retire the twist,flew it every weekend since janurary
no misshaps, just sligtly bent the landing gear,and replaced the rudder ca hinges
the air frame is showing some wear & tear ( well over 160 flights) + i have a 40 funtana still in the box


the tear down will takeplace this weekend & the build of the f 40 will follow
i know i will miss my twist, but when i fly it and it does nothing for me
i know it is time to move on

Well after building another twist, and crashing it twist with the standard break in te center of the plane, the second time 100%, I'm back flying again...

MUST..............REBUILT...............AND....... .........FLY..............TWIST..............

It may be time to move to a more structurally sound flying machine...like a tank....

I got the Twist finished, and took it up today for a 2nd maiden(been months since I've flown it). The Supertigre .51 was great, but the plane was way out of trim, and was really squirley until I got it trimmed out. Was also a little tough to bring down with the break-in prop on it, she just didn't want to slow down. Hopefully this week I can take it up with a better prop, and trimmed out properly.

Good luck with the Funtana 40. I have one too. It flies much different than the twist. Its not as short coupled so you can pattern with it better. But it still has the same tail heavy landing characteristics as the twist so you should be good to go. What engine are you gonna use on the Funtana ?. I am using the Magnum .91 4 stroke, but I am sure the .72 or .82 Saito would work fine. I am using a 14X6 prop. One hint......dont use those teeeeeny little wheels they give you with the Funtana, put some 2.25 inchers or bigger on it. I am using 3.5 inchers, unless you are gonna take off from a paved run-way, then your fine with the ones supplied. The Funtana is a great plane. Its like if you mated a twist and a extra 300. It has the extra fuse and the twist wing with a little sweep to it. One thing you will notice about the Funtana, it is really the size of a 60 size bird, although they call it a 40, I guess because of the low weight. But it has a great profile. Its a little hard to see on a cloudy day (white). I enjoy both of them. Let me know how it goes.

I put an os 50 sx heli engine on my twist. balanced perfect at 4.5 unlimited vertical with 12.25x3.75 prop no problems with plane flys like a dream

Hey guys, I am about to buy a twist. I dont have enough cash at the moment to upgrade my radio and what not so I was wondering if I could just strip my trainer? I know the radio isnt digital so is that gunna make it a lot harder to fly without being able to adjust the throws? The stuff I would take out of my trainer would be the Evolution Trainer Power System, JR Quattro radio and JR Sport ST47 servos.

S-a-v-a-g-e, I don't see a problem at all. The throws can be adjusted mechanically. The lack of expo on high rates will require a lighter touch on the sticks. Run it on low rates until you get used to it.

Savage, RCs been around a lot longer than computer controlled radios, you should have no problem, it will require mechanical set up rather than the easy throw setting on the computer radios. Dont get me wrong, get a computer radio when you get the chance but you can fly the twist without it. Like Tim C said, set the twist up for non 3D flight (low rates) to start with. You can use small control horns if needed on the ailerons to achieve smaller throws. Sounds like you are striping the trainer, what engine are you gonna run, will this be your first low wing?

I am running the Saito 72 in the twist but I have a Magnum .91 in another slightly larger but similar plane (Funtana 40S). I think the Magnum 91 may be a bit heavy for the Twist. The power would be OK but you will not need that much. The 70 size Saito pulls the twist up verticle faster than the 91 Magnum does on my Funtana, which is a little bigger and a little heavier. I would go with the Saito .72 or .82 or the Magnum 70. The Magnum versus Saito debate seems to be the Ford versus Chevy debate. I like them both, I find that my Saito is easier to adjust the needle valve for the appropriate high end speed and it cranks a little easier. My Magnum on the other hand idles better...? All good choices, try the 14X4W prop, or if you want a little more bite and a little less breaking spead, go with the 14X6. Put some 2.75 or 3 inch wheels on it for clearance and better grass landing. The twist is a great little plane.
