RE: vectorflight extra300 or edge540
What size fuel tanks are you guys using with the 66 inch extra300? Are you using the stock one? I have a Magnum XLS 91A installed in my 300 WITH the stock tank so i go bigger?

Using stock tanks on both, 14 oz. Sullivan. Solid reliable tank. Fairly good flight durations with 91 FXs on both my Edge and Extra 66.:)

RE: vectorflight extra300 or edge540
Just an added comment. I have a 58 inch Vectorflight extra with a Super Tigre .91. Superb power match by the way. Unlimited verticle, no weight required to balance it. I did 2-56 tail support on all 4 sides. But by all means be sure to gap seal the surfaces. Without gap sealing my plane did very nice rolls, but around about a 2 foot circle. With gap seals they were totally axial. The snaps became absolutely blinding. When you let go of the sticks it stops rolling right there, right now. Landing speeds are very docile. I never let it get as slow as my Four Star 60 will go, but it is actually more docile landing because the aileron control is so exact and so precise. Just do not try to land with a .90 up front and low rate elevators. ... I eliminated low rates there after the first time I did that. Their planes also fly very well with lots of throttle management. Mine does everything at half throttle it does at higher levels except hover, that requires about 3/4 and yes I was suprised when it did on normal throws and balance. But it was very stable. I actually did it by accident the first time.

Haz
Yes the stock tank is 14 oz. Duration varies a lot depending upon flying! I'd say about 12 -15 minutes of normal aerobatic flying, but when its rock and roll adrenaline time about 10 intense minutes! I like to leave at least a few minutes of fuel remaining. |

Have you noticed, the $149.95 sale is back on again? This is being written on September 10, and it has been on for a week or more.
I may have to get a spare... let's see... which one shall I pick! Good luck, Dave Olson |
