Hinge points in thin wood

I'm ready to hinge a plane and i always use Robart hinge points in bigger planes but it has a flat plate tail 3/8 inch thick is the hinge points ok or should i use radio south ca hinges i really hate the pinned hinges still haven't got over installing them in another plane a few months ago

What size/type plane is it? As far as I can see, the tail is plenty thick enough to use either type of hinge. Go with whatever you're most comfortable with (Unless it's a really big aerobatic plane, then I'd avoid the CA hinges.)

I would say the 1/8" hinge point is plenty strong for your CAP, as long as you use enough of them. I rehinged the elevators of my 28% Laser with 1/8" hinge points after I broke a CA hinge. The surfaces are built up with 3/8" stick like your CAP. I installed six 1/8" hinges on each side. There's no way I'll have hinge failure now! If I had to do it again I would probably only use 4 or 5 hinges per side. Good luck!

I had the same concerns when doing a repair job on my Pitts. Here are some pictures of how mine worked out. I also used extra hinge points to add strength. Holding fine. I used Gorilla Glue as well.
