Hi Tim, I have a Zenoar 23 on my Big Boy, running a APC 17x6 prop. and it weighs 10 lbs. It will hover at just over half trottle and pull out. What prop are you running and what RPMs are you getting? I think when you get your 26 cc tuned right and the right prop you will have unlimeted vertical. I am turning 8600 RPMs with a B&B muffler. The stock muffler cuts down on power by several hundred RPMs. I am sure you already know that. I flew mine this sat. and sunday. weather here is still hot, but I know that wont last much longer Good flying, Wayne M.

Oh so glad to here that the wabbit is back. He only came out because he knew that the WABBIT HUNTER wouldn't no way be in Paducah. I wish that I had the pics developed from Benton saturday, Jerry brought out Danny a new JBB with a 91os and smith pipe. It flew great as I expected it would hovers at about a third throttle. I set up some air brakes so maybe he can land it easier. The motor was extended out about 4 in. and the elevator and rudder servos are in the back. Great flying plane, Jerry also brought out his new Aeroworks extra 260 for some maiden flights. It flew great also, had some problems with my scratch built Edge 40%er. Engine quit in flight but dead stick was fine. Checking out the carb and fuel system tonight, hope to have running right by the weekend since the high is only going to be in the 70's.
The war is on!!!
THE WABBIT HUNTER (PS OR PMS: Randy no strings how do you remove that tampon Racer)

Yea this BCMA is going to take some work. I just found out the carb is actually the wrong one from my post on the BCMA forum. The prop is a 18x6 wood that was hand made by a doctor that went to prison for some reason. It's the best performing prop I've used and I got a couple dozen of them. When to wind dies down some I'll take it out and play.

Here's my new toy.

Tim now your talking get that bad boy ready. You might want to look into a extra long header and a beer can for it. That will make it get another 1000 rpm.

Ok, I'm back. Max RPM on the BCMA 26 was 6500 rpm with an 18x6 prop. The next time it flys it will be with the OS. I'm tired of fighting the BCMA 26. It's all Hillarys fault.

Man I envy you guys, I wish I had the skill to build a Spoiler, they look like a blast. Hopefully East rc will get off there duff and ARF some.:)

I agree! I can't do kits due to space limitations and glue alergies. A spoiler ARF would be a wopnderful thing.

Here is a link to my first attempt at posting a video. I was the builder, Randy is the money man, and Tina has the skills. Sorry for the edit but I just noticed that I was distracted by Lanny Hatley's Plane

Hi Tim, Something is not right with your BCMA 26. It should turn that prop over 8ooo RPMs. You said that it was made by a friend, maybe it is hard to turn and overloading your engine. If you have pulled it off the plane I would try a APC 17x6 or a APC 18x6 to see if it is the prop before I gave up on the gas engine. Is it electronic ign. maybe the timing is low. If it has the fixed timing mag. then I have no idea why it does not turn up. Hope you get it right. Wayne M.

man she ( torque roll tina) can drive a airplane for sure! i was told by a local pro pilot that spoilers wouldn't torque roll but tina must not know it.;) when the wind wasn't blowing (not on vid) she had it on the ground spinning like a top the first time she had flown a spoiler. now that my plane knows how to do it, t-rolling should be easy for me too:D

Yep, there's something wrong with it all right. As a last ditch effort I put the carb from the damaged BCMA on this engine tonight and took it down to try out. I took my prop collection too. 6700 was the max RPM with any size prop. The ignition is electronic and I did try adjusting the timing, no change. There's not much adjustment on the timing.

These hand made props are extremely well made. I think anyone here would be impressed. They have a lower surface area than a Master Airscrew and about the same surface area of an APC. The balance is perfect on every one. The hobby shop owner here gave a bunch away to some of the Casper flyers and they wanted more. I don't know who the Doctor was that made them. All I know is he was sent to prison for something and the props were given to me from his estate sale. He probly got on the wrong side of Clinton.

Anyhow, I'm at my wits end on this motor. There's no wear and tear on it at all. It's never been crashed, never sucked dirt. The first motor had the exact same issues. I'm still going to play around with it a little before I switch it out. At least it starts easy since replacing the gasket. I just really wanted a gas motor on the JBB. The OS 1.6 is setting here ready to go. A couple more days and I'll have to change it out.

I didn't know that I could zoom while videoing until the end. That short clip started out at 55mb, had to reduce to 2mb to submit. Will try to get better at this, we have a lot of fun around here and would like to get it on video now I know it will work(I can do it). Any suggestions on how to post video would be welcomed.

Has anyone come out with a Spoiler arf or kit yet?
Tim
Hi guys,

Been lurking on the thread for a while, you guys are talking up lots of good BigBoy and Spoiler stuff here. Anyway, to comment on a snip from Tim's post, we're working with our builder now on pre-production prototypes of the Spoiler. Can't give a timeline yet, but they should be in production sometime over the winter. We're trying to match all of Jerry's "fine tuning" to the Spoiler in the production version. I'll update with some pics and info as we move along on this project.

Good job on the video! [sm=thumbup.gif] I can see lots more of those coming from around here. :D Tina did a great job TR'ing the Spoiler. I know my JBB will do them also, but the ground keeps pushing it higher than that. :D:D

Man, we love those things around here (Big Boy & Spoilers). We were hoping to be finished with the production stuff by now, but the builder was pretty backed up and had other projects (of ours and other companies) on the table ahead of the Spoiler. They're moving along now, so we're hoping to have the first units in house in the Dec/Jan timeframe. Brandon (here at East R/C) splattered his Big Boy recently, so he's _really_ interested in getting these things in soon .
