I am looking at this plane as well I think it is to new to find much info.

i've had one for a month now without building it, though. i have the purple version. the plane itself looks of very good build quality and quite light. that much i usually expect from world models.

i'm not going to build it for the time being but i'm sure it will be great when i finish. i plan to put a 52 4-stroke in it. anyway, if you have any questions about the kit itself, i can answer it since it's right here with me!

wiating to hear how one flys and how much power it needs.
I have a os 70 ultimat 4stroke not sure if it is to much for the little bipe.

i think it will be too much power with the 70 ultimate. the reason i bought this plane is because i had the ultimate 30. it's about the same size and i had a 32sx in that. i think a 52 is just the ticket.

I just got one, I'm debating either a Saito .56 or an OS FX .46. I think I'm going to lean twoards the 2 stroke, as I don't want too much weight in the nose in this one.... and I'd much rather have to remove stick on weights from the nose than add stick on weights to the tail...

Hey Fellas

This is one cool plane. I got the purple one about a week ago and only have had about 6 hours of assembly so far. Not much left to do except install radio gear and engine. I have a TT 46Pro with Pitts style muffler ready to bolt on. The instructions only show how to mount a 4 stroke inverted but it looks like a horizontal 2 stroke will be fine. Oh, by the way, make sure you have a low profile servo for the ailerons as a standard is too tall. I'm using Hi Tech 425BB's everywhere else. Hope to maiden either Tuesday or Thursday and will let everyone know how it flies.

does anyone know where i can get one? I'd prefer to order from a shop outside of california to avoid tax. i wouldnt mind paying tax if i can pick it up from a local hobby store, but no one in southern california has it and i dont want to pay for shipping AND tax from airborne models (which is in california but not local).

This plane should fly very much like the WM Ultimate 30. It has exactly the same weight, airfoil, wing area, span, etc etc . If you look closely it really is nothing more than a beautified Ultimate 30 with a nose job and new style landing gear. I am excited about it too! I love the yellow. I currently have an Ultimate 30 with a Magnum 40 on it swinging an APC 10 x 6. I absolutely love my little bipe. It flies like a dream and will do knife edge flight with very little rudder input. The fact that it can remain together while being transported is a plus too. Get to the field, fuel and FLY! My kind of plane. I will probably buy the new 40 when I see one at LHS. My Magnum gives me almost unlimited verticle when running lean. An OS 46AX or FX would be phenominal! The only downer about my Ultimate 30 is the crazy PINK color on the covering job. What in the world was WM thinking?? people ask me all the time, " Why did you put pink on it!!" Oh well after they see it fly....they don't say anything else about the look.;)

i just got the ultimate 40 yesterday and will be putting it together next week. it looks like the ailerons are a bit thin for good roll authority.

do you guys have good roll rates with this plane? will it 3d? i'm used to flying planes with much larger control surfaces.

also, is the c.g. recomended in the manual fairly accurate?

My friend just baught this plane and is looking for info on it. How does it fly with the 52 FS. he is planing on using that size. also did you need to use thin aleron servos? any info would be great... Also how well does it fly?

I now have about fifteen flights on this plane and each one just gets better and better as the engine gets broken in. The only let down, if you could call it that, is that the roll rate is fairly dissappointing. Aileron rolls are really more like barrell rolls but if you turn them into 4-point rolls then, wow, now you're doing something really cool. Take-off requiresvery little rudder correction, especially for a bi-plane. I still land fairly hot and always get one little bounce about three to six inches but still no problem. My favorite maneuver is a reverse cuban-8 as this plane looks awesome inverted and then pushing over the top.

All said, I have gotten alot of compliments on this plane at the field and it is really awesome to fly!

How many servos are they using for Ailerons? 1 or 2? Also, is the hardware in the kit good or did you replace anything? Any problems during assembly or other misinformation in the manual? I am seriously thinking of getting one of these, they seem like a good deal and I've herad good things about World Models planes. Thanks, Jeff

there is only one servo for the ailerons (you cannot adjust aileron differential, or flap/ elevator mix, etc.). i'm probably going to modify it to take two aileron servos (one for each side).

you will also want to enlarge the ailerons. the stock ones are surprisingly small. roll rates can still be ok with the stock ones as long as you keep the cg a little aft. but on downlines with engine at idle, it's very unresponsive. mine are enlarged about 20% and it flies MUCH better. i've also enlarged the elevator about 40%. i've enlarged the rudder also but it probably was not neccessary, as it's already very effective as-is.

overall a very good bipe. great quality. the only complaint i have is that it doesnt track as straight as i'd like, esp. on uplines. the tail is way too short in my opinion. other ultimates from other manufactures are always made with the fuse a few inches longer than the wingspan. this one is 2 inches shorter, which causes it to be too "twitchy", esp on the pitch axis.

it will barely hover, but it takes a lot of effort. definitely not a "3d plane". but it does biplane type aerobatics great (spins, tumbles, point rolls, knife edge, etc.)

with a magnum .46 2 stroke and 11x5 prop, it's got power to spare. with a 10x6 it's faster and tracks a bit better, but i like slow aerobatics so i'm sticking with the 11x5.

My wm 40 s flies very well..My only suggestion is to use bigger 4 stroke. Initially powered it with a 56 saito and was disappointed with vertical and hovering. Now with 82 saito the plane is perfect.

This will be my next plane, but I can't decide on the enigine. My options are:

- O.S. FS-52 Surpass Ringed 4-Stroke;
- O.S. FS-70 II Surpass;
- O.S. FS-91 II Surpass.

So, will them all fit? Are the 91 and 70 too big? Too powerful? What do you guys think?

Also, what else should I buy? Will the stock mount and muffler fit?

My friend has this plane and I have flown it. He flies it with a Magnum 52fs and it flys fine... Not overpowered. If I was to do it I waould use a saito 72 or some equivalent to that. The 91 is way too big.

there are lots of threads on this plane already few things to look out for but seem prety good for the most part :D
