Looking for a small plane.

I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a smalll .10-.30 plane. I want to be able to throw it in my car and have room to spare. I have had a lot of different planes, but I have to say my favorite plane to fly is my Tiger 60. I love the way that plane flies and was hoping someone could reccomend a plane like that.... that flies on rails. I understand I can't fly these small planes on windy days... but on days like that I will bust out the Tiger 60 :) Thank you all in advance....it is very much appreciated.

Modeltech Extra 300 with a .32 or .36 engine. And don't believe you can't fly small planes on windy days. This plane's got a thin airfoil and cuts through the wind just fine.

Ok, that's not the only plane. :D Since you're looking for a throw it in the car and fly plane, I need to mention my favorite "beater" plane. Consider one of the World Models Aircombat series. While they're not the prettiest to look at, they fly great. Mine has an OS .32 FSR and it screams, but will slow down well. I take this plane to the field more often than any other. I like it so much I have an unassembled one in the closet for the inevitable day when I crash it. The one that gets the second most flights is the Extra 300. Another choice is the Thunder Tiger Lazy Tiger P-51. I don't have one, but those on here who do speak highly of them.

If you would be in the market for it, I've just bought a RTF Edge 540 electric that came with an outrunner brushless and lipo. It's a steal at $250, cheaper if you can find one on ebay. It's really convenient for a first time electric flyer since it's all ready to go, even comes with the charger. http://www.parkflyers.com/

Giantscaleplanes baby cap- nice little plane that I have owned. You can purchase on ebay from other vendors for around $80. Mine was from ebay.

Tiger Moth 30- also a nice little plane that I owned. Made by Pacific Aeromodels. ALso have knock-offs on ebay but I don't know the quality of those.

Great planes has a couple of combat models that look nice, although I have never personally seen one. They have a corsair and a mustang designed for that size engine.

Try the Sonic 25 from Phoenix Models. I flew one for the better part of 2 years with an O.S. .25FX for power. Very nice flyer, and a nice price also.

I had a Tiger Bipe (35-40 size) for a while. That would go into the trunk of my Jetta (not a large car) fully assembled. I put an external charger jack on it so I could leave the wings on 24/7. The Tiger Bipe is a cute little airplane with golden age lines. It performs spectacularly with a Thunder Tiger GP 42. Flies like a typical sport plane. It's nothing special in terms of arf quality (plastic cowl and wheel pants) but overall construction/quality is perfectly decent so it's a reasonable value for the money.

how's about a nice 30 sized Gremlin? flys great,no assembly and can handle any wind nicely!

I have a NotForSale that I flew with a .25FSR and later a .25FX. Great flying airplane and grass fields don't bother it. The .25FX is an awesome power plant and the plane is very fast with it. With either engine, it slows down nicely for landing. I bought a kit-built Jr. Tiger at my club's last auction and have a Magnum .25 for it. Either of these planes will fit your car. The NotForsale is built from plans and the Jr. Tiger is from a discontinued kit.

My favorite is the Tiger 60 also. I'm 90% finished with a Model tech ME109. this is a 25 size and will fit in the back of my extended cab Ranger. I havn't had a chance to fly it yet, hopefully this weekend. All reports indicate it will be a good flyer. Good price also $80.

how about a WM Rambler 30? it's my favorite plane!!!

i've had the gsp (cmp) baby cap, too and it was pretty small and nice but not very 3D. had great flying characteristics, though.

but the best one i think is the WM aircombat. it's rough and tough and is really stress free flying.

the hirobo 15 size cap 232's and sukhoi are okay but not recommended.

REALLY REALLY appreciate all the replies... I have been lookin at several of these planes.. I have decided on a couple of them.

Anyone have any more planes they'd like to share? I never knew there were so many good little planes out there.

Thanks again.

I'm assembling a WM Zen 30. If this plane flies as well as it's built it's going to be great. Power will be a TT Pro .36. Watch for an RCU review of it sometime in the near future. ;)

well for a throw in the car and go fly plane i have a Herr engineering Pitts bipe. its a little smaller than what you mentioned but it flies great with a .071. Built up quick and flys like nothin else for being that size! http://www.iflyherr.com/cgi-bin/dpsm...nuF.html?E+Hrr

One of the nicest flying small models is the OK Models Hydeaway 15. It is a laser cut kit suitable for .15 engines and both the kit quality and flying performance are top notch.

Here is a link to a [link=http://www.tleong.rchomepage.com/HydeAway_320x240(2)_mpg.mpg]video[/link] showing an "electrified" Hydeaway but you should get equally good performance with a .15 engine.

And here is a link to a build [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258611]thread[/link].

MrMulligan - wait till you get a load of my N4S 60!!! Here are some pics ...

Can anyone recommend me an ARF for my OS FS26? I am not looking for a warbird unless its a WWI bipe, something like the Hydeaway is fine, can that plane be mounted with the OS FS26? Thanks!

tIANci - don't recommend this plane... but then again, it would probably be fine with the 26. my ASP can't idle worth a **** so i have never gotten this bird off the ground. but looks nice it DOES!

it qualifies being a WWI bipe :D

How about a Sig Wonder??

One of the guys at our field has one and it is amazing to watch fly --- it is one quick puppy and would be very easy to transport in the car.

I've got one of these too. It's got a TT GP-15 in it. While it does fly nice, the unexpected snap rolls have kept it from being my favorite plane. One thing that helped a little was to lower the ailerons a bit, but it still snaps if pushed. When I had to choose which of my planes was going to lose it's brain (receiver) to the Zen, the Hydeaway lost. Servos are still in, so it's not completely decommissioned, but it's temporarily out of service.

To Tianci, I don't know how it would do with a FS26. It doesn't have a huge wing, so I think the weight might be an issue. Also, remember it's a kit, not an ARF.
