AT-6 engine position
Hi all.
I am trying to find proper position to mount engine on GREAT PLANES AT-6 ARF.DO I go by the book and connect the dots on the firewall to find the engine center or use the centerline that has been drawn already which would be to the left and down from the position made using the dots mentioned in the book? Just wondering if anyone has gone through this already? I would also be interested in receiving your comment's on how this AT-6 flies.I will use a SAITO .72 in mine. THANKS P.J |

Yeh, but be careful, sometimes those holes in the firewall that the fuel tank sets in are not where they should be to help line things up. On a couple of my planes, I had to stand the fuse up, place the engine and mount on the fuse and place the cowl over it and center the mount from their. Real pain.

I used the mount hole's to get center of trust line only, rite in the X of the bulkhead. I used a aftermarket mount for my Saito .80. I also installed retracts. Get out your torch if you install. A real pain to line up. And I did not use wheel cups or foam wheels. It looks like a Great little ARF. I should have mine ready to Fly by next weekend. Keep us / me posted if yours flys sooner. JWA |

RCV58-CD

Hi Gents
I am in the process of mounting a RCV58-CD in mi GP T-6. I am mounting the engine in the 12 O'clock position and running it only with a OS flexible exhaust extension, in roughly the scale position. I find the engine very quiet running without the muffler, not to require it. The engine is smaller than an OS 40 2cycle engine and gives me about a 1/2 inch of space to pair inside the cowl, without having to cut a hole for the head. I will also use a remote glow plug adapter, and in that way I wont have any holes in the cowl at all. I also decided to mount the same engine in my 82" Beaver, and decided to mount the engine in the 7:30 position. In this way the exhaust will come straight down without the use of any fancy and EXPENSIVE plumbing (IE OS Flexible Extension OUCH!) I wish I would have thought of this with the T-6. I am posting a picture of the installation. |

I've had 2 of the RCV 58-CD engines on order from Sheldon's since their ad first appeared in RCM. |
Saddle ajustment and RCV engines
Hi Guys
I had to do some real fancy carving to make the center section fit, and it is still only mediocre for my taste. I am not normally a ARF builder but I wanted something to quickly mount the RCV engine in to assess for a kit candidate for the RCV flying team. To say the least the GP T-6 is no longer a candidate. I have built complete kits in less time than I have already spent on this thing, and it is still not ready. Do your self a favor and buy your self the CMP T-6 when it is ready at the end of this month. (I AM) To properly install the retracts you should not use the wing buckets, and you should replace the kit wheels with something softer to prevent landing damage.
