Great Planes PT-19
I did a search and didn't come up with much.......has anyone put a G23 in the Great Planes PT-19?
What kind of modifications were needed? Any other thoughts would be appreciated. |
Nose Heavy???
I fly mine with an OS .91 FS.....more than enough power - and I think (not 1st hand knowledge) a G-23 might be a bit too much weight up front.

Built and test flew a friend's GP PT19 powered w/ an OS120 Surpass, which is a very good match IMO.
I think the plane has sufficient eing area to handle the G23's weight, though you might have to move the servos to the tail for balance. Oh, by the way; we found the CG listed in the manual to be approx. 3/4" TOO FAR BACK, so beware! It's great looking plane - perfect for a relaxing Sunday at the field. Here it is in flight. |

Thanks for the replies, as always everyone here is always willing to help.
I installed a OS.91 two cycle. It was installed in accordance to the instructions, and I'm having a problem with the carb filling up with fuel(gravity feeding) so I can't get the engine to run. It looks like the tank is to high...and I can't figure a way to move it without a lot of sugury on the airframe, and there isn't much room to work in there. That's why I was looking to install the G23. Can someone give an idea on how to solve this. A couple of guys at the field suggested I should install a Cline regulator. I pretty sure someone has installed the OS 91 FX and I was hoping they could shed some light on how they did it. I'm willing to try an OS 120 four cycle if I can install it without moving the stock location of the fuel tank. I believe that if you use the four stroke you need a special manifold to allow the muffler to fit in the channel under the nose. Can someone give that Part Number. Thanks for all your help. P. S. I love Bipes also.....just finished a Sig Hog Bipe |

I'm going to put an RCS 1.40 in mine. Plane and engine are still in their boxes as I have too many other projects in the way.

I have one with a Fuji 32, a couple of small firewall mods was all that was necessary. Balance required shifting the battery pack aft. Plane flies great. In retrospect this is too much power, although it sure will go vertical, but then the real one did not. If you decide to do a go around on a landing approach and bring up the throttle too fast there is a tendency to snap right. A Zenoah 23 would be just about right.
