Engine question for Funtana 90S
 

Hi Guy's, been trying to sort through the Hangar 9 Funtana S90 threads but with an extra slow server at the moment it has been very tiresome.

Would a TT120 be too much motor for this plane?? or would I be better going with a TT .91 / ST .91??

This topic has been discussed to death, but put a YS 110, Saito 125, Saito 120 with a 16X4 APC prop in your funtana and you'll love it. We have seen them with 2 strokes and they work but seem a little sensitive in torgue rolls and rolling harriers, and don't sound as good as a 4 stroke, TRing close to the ground.

The TT120 would be very good as its performance is about the same as the YS110, both will turn a 16x6 prop at about 10,500 RPM just that the TT120 will do it on 15% fuel. I have both engines. The YS turned an APC 16x6 at 10,000 ROM max whilst the TT120 at 10,500 RPM. However it feels different flying both engines, the YS giving you more torque and making feeling more confortable.

I've seen one fly at my field with a YS 110, and that thing will pull straight up effortlessly and instantaneously from a hover without a single hiccup.

Here in Utah guy's are using the OS 160 because the Satio 100 doesn't have enough. The new Satio 125 should have a little bit more power and people have used the YS 110. We are at 4200 feet or so. The newest motor we have played with here is the new Evolution 26cc gas motor. This motor makes the plane fly like a foamy.

I flew mine with a Moki 120 and a Bisson pitts muffler. It flew great but I'm selling the Moki and muffler right now on E-bay to try and raise funds for a four stroke YS or Saito.
I have a YS in a heli and they are super engines and from what I've read they seem to out perform all the other four strokes in the same size category.

You got that right. They don't seem to out perform - they DO out perform all the other four strokes.

I have seen a bunch this size Funtanas and ,]many different motors on this plane at my local field. I personally ran a YS 1.40L with no problems. The YS 91 guys complained. The Saito guys complained a lot until they put bigger ones on the front, 1.50 I thiink?

The 91 OS was marginal. Your plan to use a 1.20 2-c should work well. If not a YS 110 does the job.

I did retrofit an A type (No nose-ring) hydemount to quieten down the snare-drum effect on the wings.

If you already have motor just stick it on and see what happens. You can easily change it later.
