Since your plane crashed, I am not sure if I want one now. I guess I will just get a U-Can-Do-3D. Thanks, Conrad

I have seen engine mounts that have special rubber pieces to reduce vibration wear on airframe. With one of these, do you think that a 120 fs(if it will even fit) would be ok, or still too much. At a possible 9lbs, I just think a 91fs wouldn't be enough, and I don't want a 2-stroke.

wolf... 3.3kg = 7.27lbs!!! What did you do to get it this light. The webpage says 8-9lbs, I have never seen anyone overquote a models weight.

What scale pilot should I use? 1/5?

Thanks

P.S. Any suggestions on specific hardware replacement would be super.(4-40?)

hi ptarp scale pilot is included
with rubber mount you reduce shake but 120 don't fit on engine bay, remember 125 mm from firewall to spinner
my Ys 91 is 136mm (same mount of tt91).keep weight at 71\2-8lbs and with a normal 91 fs you will enjoy this plane

Thanks wolf, but how did you keep the weight that low? Do you use standard servos(metal gear?), metal clevises/horns??

wolf123 12-17-2002 10:13 PM

Seagull Models Edge 540

2 hs 525bb on aileron,2 hs 545bb on each elevator and 1 hs 545bb rudder,1 sanwa 102 on trottle,sanyo kr600ae 5 cell, jr pcm649s .i've change the weels,screw on gear(in kit 4 screw =110gr),i not mounted decals
and i use plastic clevis with steel rod 2.5 mm, the rest is out of the box.
regards

Some of you that already have this Edge 540....

Does it do a pretty good flat spin?
What about a knife edge spin?
Tryed any popups?
I just want to get more info before I buy.
Thanks again,
~Conrad

yep ,very good flat spin and at high speed very flat indeed.
very tight loops with duel rates
great knife not yet done knife spin or pop ups but I'm sure it will be OK, to many things to test and not enough time , I'm sure you know.

thanks for the info adrian...

Let me know how it does once you test it out. Maybe I will have mine soon and be able to test it.

adrian, what engine are you currently using? I am having a real delima about what engine to buy. It might be the diff between getting/not getting this model(since wolf123 said a 1.20 fs won't fit). I want a lot of power to do aerobatics, but I DONT want a 2-stroke engine. Maybe I'm out of luck :(

ptarp, we have just removed the 91fx with a 13x8 apc prop it went very-very well as I'm sure you know the 91 fx is a strong engine and more than enough for 99% of your needs . with us its always pushing the pinnacle a little, so this is why we are going to try a108/1202s next

ptarp. we did however before the fx run a saito100 and it ran great even hover , I'm 100% sure most guys will be over the moon with the 100saito performance and the edge . build it light and it will go like smoke.

Has anyone tryed putting a magnum 1.08 engine on it?
Its a pretty cheap engine, stronger andabout the same weight as the os 91 FX.

What oz/min do you get on a 91fx flying aerobatics?

I just can't make my mind up!!! Let me look at the pics again and close my eyes, imagining a torque roll with a ground rudder touch! That will help ;)

hyperviper - If I actually convince myself to go 2-stroke, I will probably put that engine in it. Its so cheap! :)

I think I am going to break down and get the plane with a Mag 1.08 2s. With already installed pinned hinges, scale pilot, Ultracoat covering, and good overal quality, how can I say no? :)

Wolf123 your pics of plane put me over the edge. The plane looks sweet! What kind of servos did you use in your elevator setup?

Is it possible to reverse a servo by just switching the positive and negative power(like on most electric motors)?

Volfy 12-19-2002 05:10 AM

Seagull Models Edge 540

The Mgnum 1.08 weighs quite a bit more than the 91FX. If you're looking at the TowerHobbies specs for the 1.08, it's wrong. I have a Magnum 1.08 and it weighs a little over 30 Oz. with muffler - about the same as my Magnum 1.20 4stroke. It also turns a 16x6 or 15x8 about the same RPM as the 1.20 4stroke. Don't let me discourage you from buying the 1.08, as it is one nice 2stroke engine. I just don't want you to be surprised by the weight when you get it. If you use a Pitts muffler, my guess is that it'll weigh around 28 Oz. total.

This Edge 540 is looking better everytime I come into this thread. I might just have to get it and put the 1.08 on it. :)

hi ptarp
i use two hitec hs 545.if you wont to reverse a verso i must reverse polarity on motor and potentiometer, but if you use a computer radio use reverse software
