2 days ago, she tokk off from our grass runway.

she flies like a dream. She need only some time to understand her flight.

Looks nice. Are those the stock gun barrels that came with the plane? Which engine did you go with?

You sure that's the Modeltech ARF. It looks a little different.

belive me, it is the modeltech P-47 ... with a lot of mod.

the gun barrel are not from the box, because the vacuform ones looks not so good. I replaced with the plactic guide of a pushrod set, and then silver painted.

the engine is a magnum 1.20 4s. the maiden and the second flight were done with a 16x8, but with that it is not fast . probably with a 15 apc may be better.

the wing looks different because I cutted a "like" scale wheels bay, and I removed the covering and used monokote to reproduce a museum warbirds. the b&w stripes come from selfadesive matt pvc.

there are another pair of place with construction picture here and there.

there are no in flight picture yet, because I was so excited for the first take off, that I forgot to take that. next time.

on last landing, she soffered a little damage on gear rails due to my bad landing: too slow and not "soft" enought, but I already repaired it and she is ready to fly again.

You did a great job on the mods. I really like the gun barrels and the color scheme does look more realistic then the original scheme Modeltech had.

You do a really nice job.
I also have a ModellTech P -47, but it's without any changes not so great looking as yours.
I have an SC 120 4-stroke and 15x8 Graupner Nylon prop inside, power enough.

Hi Klauss,

did you modify the downtrust on your model for sc 1.20?

how is the approach? mine has a nose down tendency: that was the reason for a little damage on landing gear.

did you use the original landing gear? how strong are?

no I don't modify the downtrust.
On my flights and starts are no tendency for a nose over.
I use the original retracts which are includes the kit.

What do you mean with strong?
If you mean the weight - than 9lbs with fuel

Hi pilots,

well, I tested the model with 4 flights. I have to admit that not all went good. The second landing was to hard, and the gear rails came off.

I also removed the downtrust and now (flight 3 and 4) I can do loop with easy.

the model is strong, and it glides really good. during my last 2 flight, I suffered engine problems, with the final result of 2 deadstick landing. the first one I was able to land near the runway. the last one over the stone! the only damage was some monokote ripped off, but no other damage.

here are the picture of an improvment for scale apparence: I putted a dummy radial engine in front of the cowl. It is supported by 4 screw, so I can remove it if necessary. I found the image of Wasp engine here:

Can you tell me how much your plane wieghs? I have a similar setup, but I only have a .91 fs in it and it is about 9 lbs now and I'm starting to wonder if thats to heavy for this size motor. I see quite of few people going with 1.20 fs and larger. Thanks. And great plane.

Alessandro , great looking plane . With all of those great mods you may want to add flaps .
This would really allow you to slow this baby down on landing under power . Considering the P47 flaps are not split , it would be less complicated modification .
I would shorten your airlerons to "more scale" then add the flaps .
There are some great post on "adding flaps to ARF located on RCU "

Just returned from flight No. 5: no any problem today!!!

The flight was not so long, because I have some trouble with engine-propeller combo. My engine is a magnum 4s 1.20, with about 1 and half hours of running in. With a MA 16x8 k I can obtain only about 8900 rpm. I red that similar engines should take about 9500 rpm. I will try next time with a 15x6.

I also solved a problem with cjm variable retract valve. I used the stock ones with 4 wheel collars to reduce the speed of the gear. the picture below shows how.
