i have picked up a nearly new Pulse XT for £70, inc servos.
it was used for electric, and i'm going to put my SC .46 engine in it from my trainer, but before i mount the engine and hack the cowling about has any one mounted the engine on its side with the exhaust going underneth ? in the pics ive seem with it mounted upright it looks to protude out of the top quite a bit, especially the exhaust muffler. should this be possible, has anyone got pics of it done ? |

looks like no one has pics of a Pulse XT with the engine turned, so i fitted mine with the exhaust at the bottom and heres a few pics.
excuse the quality i only have use of camera function on the camcorder, must get a new camera. i think it looks loads better than mounted upright, and glad it took the plunge and turned it, hopefully i should get to fly it tomorrow |

That really does look like a great idea. I'm mounting my OS 70 Surpass II 4 Stroke, inverted so the lines of the plane will look similar.

managed to get to the field this afternoon, got five flights in before the light faded too much.
what a great plane, not that I've had much to compare it too, but i found it very stable and easy to get used to. having only flown a trainer before (and shocky) i let one of the guys take it up for the first flight and he was impressed with it, said i shouldn't have any troubles. A quick refuel and i went off for my first flight with it. it pulls off to the left a bit on take off but is manageable, soon got comfortable with it and was soon doing loops and rolls. it rolls really well on low rates, i didnt even try high rates out. also the engine seems to run better in the plane, pulls quite well going vertical. i would recommend this as a second plane to any one, i found it to be an easy step to a low wing tail dragger. |

Got and Evolution .52 2-stroke with 11x8 prop in my Pulse. Getting great speed with it, but due to the prop I have to "watch my High G manouvers" so that the engine doesnt stall. Might sound strange, but I out runned 2 guys at the field today - one SU26 and one low winged speed ******* model. So it is quick for sure.
Great gliding as well. Think I had about 10 mayday landings with it. Really love it. But if its windy and you are rookie, be careful close to the ground, since it is rather jumpy ;) Edit: This is the easiest assembled plane Ive ever build, used only 7 hours. |

The Pulse is an Excellent plane. I must have close to 150+ flights on mine now. Using an OS 46 with 11x5 prop. Easy to fly on low rates....crazy on high. Great Knife edge. I havent been able to get it to flat spin though.

I bought the plug and play Pulse xt last year and flew it this year in spring.........great plane to fly ! Not when bad thing to say about. great 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and on plane!

I've been flying my Pulse with the OS 70 Surpass II (4 Stroke) with an APC 14-7 prop on it, since about end of September now...I LOVE this plane and engine combo.
Inverted mount, so the top of the cylinder head pokes out the bottom, and it looks awesome. The integrity of the cowl on the top of the plane keeps the lines clean and the head out the bottom keeps alot of airflow across the head. |

I think it might be a little under powered with a 52 4 stroke. I've had great luck with my engine, and one or 2 of the guys at my field are surprised at the power it's pulling.

has anyone had a problem mounting a four stroke upside down on this plane? I have a magnum 52 that I want to put on this plane but the carb will still be lower that the tank stopper which i've read can cause a siphoning effect. Is this true? I dont want to mount this, cut my cowl up and then find it just keeps flooding. Im thinking of stealing the 46 la from my trainer and just using that and putting the 52fs on the trainer. The only other option I see from searching is filling the firewall holes and drilling my own.Would this screw up balance or flight tendancies of the plane any?

I put an OS 50sx on mine, I found the power much better then with my .46ax. If you can find an OS 50sx it is "the" combo to have in 2 stroke imho. The 50sx also has the same footprint as the 46ax so no modding required. Verticle is awesome.

I had one of these for 18 month excellent model,had an irvine 53 in it with a tuned pipe and it went like stink,like i said it lasted for 18 month until the right hand side tail plane snapped off in flight at full throttle and in it went,so keep an eye on it especially if you are putting big motors in them. BTW they reviewed one in the uk with a SC52 fs in it and they said it was a good mach.

Had my 40 for approx 2 1/2 years and is great,nimble yet stable to fly,I was running a evo 46 then an evo 52 now have one of the new evo 60 motors in it,now it's a rocket LOL LOL The 60 has a Saito 125 in it and it's just amazing,yet again VERY stable and predictable ,the 125 i have with a 150 Saito is also excellent. You won't go wrong with a Pulse Cheers |

The Pulse is an excellent plane. Alot of fun. Had a 40 size a while back with an OS 46ax. Nice looking a good sport performance. The best and easiest knife edge out of any plane ive had so far.
