Almost done with my Skybolt, I'll name it 'Wings 'n' Beer'. Here are few pics. Have yet to install the aileron interlinks, batteries and receiver. Everything went together with no problems. The windshields were cut from the stock canopy. I added epoxy/chopped fiber to the back of the firewall joints, installed a 20 oz. fuel tank that is moved back to the servo tray, and a 6 oz. smoke tank behind the firewall. The smoke tank is mounted to a hatch cut into the bottom of the fuselage just behind the firewall. I'll get some pictures of those mods when I take it apart this week.

Power is a YS 110, 14 X 7 MA 3 blade prop, Tru-Turn spinner, Hi-Tech sevos, Great Planes pinned hinges, silver elastic thread for simulated flying wires, plastic clevises were replaced with Great Planes metal clevises. The pilot is a Great Planes item that I 'aged' with a black colored pencil and added an aluminum mic boom.

I hope to post some in-flight pictures in the coming weeks.

A friend had a very nice red Skybolt. His was convertible. You could have the canopy on or remove it and add the second windscreen. Slick set up. And very necessary in Houston. You got the look right !

I just maidened my Super Skybolt last week and I've got to say that this in one of the nicest planes I have flown in a long time. Solid as a rock. Looks great in the air with my super rich running (for the time being) OS 91fs leaving a nice smoke trail. Your smoke kit is going to make the plane.

Very nice job! I've had the kit version of this model for over two years and, of all the planes I have, this is the one I always fly first when I go flying. Note that I took a slightly different approach to the pilot figure. I think these are highly underrated models. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

mirwin- Really like your covering job! And the pilot! What engine are flying?

I have a kit version yet to build. I'm planning on making it into a 'Culp Special' which is essentially a Skybolt with a radial engine. Stan's Fiberglass has a generic round cowling that will work. What part of Va. are you in? I grew up in Christiansburg, SW Va.
