Telemaster ARF / Will This work??
 

Greetings All, Perhaps you folks can help, I sure hope so.

I'm about to purchase (today) a new Telemaster ARF and at the same time I'd like to
purchase a Zenoah 20cc w/Electronic Ignition for power. Will the Zenoah fit??

If I can't make this combo fit then I'll probably not purchase anything right now.

What do you folks think, anyone already done this??

It won't be a direct bolt in ........... heavy modification/or removal of the nose will be needed. It's vary do able and a that 20cc would fly her well.[8D]

Hi Checklst, That's kinda what I figured so thought I'd ask.

Seems that if I just cut the cowl cheeks off, sealed the exposed edges with epoxy then there
would be plenty of room.
Now I wonder if doing that, would any of the Zenoah 20's mount would overhang the fuselage. That
would be "ugly as dirt" and I probably would look for a different plane.

I sure hate to have to go purchase these items to find out the answers.
I did send an e-mail Hobby Lobby's tech support asking them if it'd fit, but no response so far.

Wonder if anyone knows the dimensions across the firewall of the Telemaster ARF including the cheeks then looking at
Zenoah's online dimensions I could probably get a decent estimate.

I just flew a telemaster arf today with an os 91 four stroke. It flew off the board with just minor elevator and aileron adjustment. I don't know about gas but a 91 four stroke is very nice on this model with just a bolt in job and go fly. No problems with balancing.

rusty bucket , Sounds like you really enjoyed it, don't blame you.
I've got several options with the 4 strokes as I've got an OS 91 and a Saito 150 / 180 that I could use.
Just not interested, really want to try the gas and the Zenoah 20cc.
Got to find out what the Telemaster measures across the firewall first.

Hi Ray, I bought a Sr. Telemaster to mount my G20EI on, and I am looking forward to doing this project and flying. The fuselage width at the firewall is 4.5 inches which is plenty wide for the G20EI. I am glad someone else is going to do the same thing. I plan on starting my modifications next week. I will have to transfer the radio gear from one of my other planes to fly though, but it should be worth it. I am not certain what all I should beefup besides the firewall, I have heard the fuse may twist a bit but I don't know if this is true for the ARF, the kit, or both. Good luck with your build.

It sounds like it might be a fairly straightforward installation. Hope all goes well for you.

I also hope you be able to post a couple of pic's of the plane and I'll try to do the same when I do
get started.

Seems that Hobby Lobby is waiting for another shipment of Telemasters and have none at the moment.
Wish I could find a hobby shop that had them in stock buy haven't been able to so far.

I don't think you will have a twist problem with the ARF version. The two versions are built very differently. This is one case where the ARF is better. A few years ago I was going to do a G23 on the nose of mine. Doing a test balance I found it would take both servos, the receiver battery and a OS FX 46 in the tail to make it happen. Not wanting to cut the nose back some I gave up and mounted a 91, many times I have wished I had gone to the trouble of makeing it a gas burner. Starting with less weight in the nose it will be easier for you and you should wind up with a great flier. Good luck and keep us informed of how it goes, I may just have to build another one.

I have this one about ready to go, I still need to mount the tank and the Spektrum receivers, there is a Saito 1.00 on the nose. The flying wires are the result of the strut hardware not being included, I got struts but no hardware.

Hello Friends, Ive just started flying a greatplanes Trainer 20 thats been lying around in the garage for 20 yrs. and Im wanting something different.I was wondering if it would be wise to try the Telemaster 40 if it comes in an ARF for glow fuel, does anyone know? or should I go with a low wing .25? Im new to the site and it looks perfect.

I have a three cylinder Saito 1.70 radial engine that I wanted to fit to the Tele ARF. Yeah, I know it will be severe over kill, but bear with me.

After looking over the ARF and seeing just how much modification would be required, I sold the ARF and bought two of the kits for the Senior Telemaster.

In order to contain this much power and weight safely, I knew I was going to need lots of drag and spoilers in order to be able to land the model exactly where I wanted. Removing the covering on the ARF's wing will take roughly the same amount of time as building the wing from scratch. I am also contemplating adding extra wing bays.

I also want my Senior Teles to not have to rely upon wing struts for additional strength, plus I want the wings to be seperately detachable. The stock kit will need lots of modification to accomodate these needs.

I suppose that by the time I'm finished, the Senior Telemaster will more resemble a Fiesler Storch in its complexity than a Tele of any iteration.

Contrary to popular opinion, stick building is easy. Don't let it intimidate you. Heck, even I can do it.

I am looking for a low wing, tail dragger, for bigginer to intermediate flyers, I have flown and landed a .25 high wing aircraft many times, can anyone offer suggetions on a kit or arf for .25 or .46 I prefer an ARF. Semi Sysmetrical. Thanks

Always wanted to build one of those, just no room to do it in.
