Cessna 337-25 ala Nitro Planes
I thought I would start a build thread on this ARF but it will be delayed. The ARF was purchased on the black friday sale. That meas buy it from web page data not time to ask questions. Below are the specs from NP: Wing Span : 55 in / 1400mm Wing Area : 426 sq in / 27.5 sq dm Flying Weight : 5 lbs / 2270g Fuselage Length : 43 in / 1090mm Engine Required : 2Strock 0.25size or Outrunner Brushless 450T - 500T Radio Required: 4 channels 5 - 7 servos ( use Outrunner Brushless only 5pcs servos) The question that should have been asked is what size servos for the 5-7 servos? I cut the covering for the ailerons. It became clear a standard would not fit. The aileron servo pockets are tight on a Hitec HS-225BB Mighty Mini and Loose Fit on Might Micro HS-85BB. And for the Micro the notch to give clearance to the servo lead is so big the mounting screw is in free space! Same goes for the servo pockets in the fuselage! For nose gear steering a nylon gear MICRO servo will not hold up to the forces endured. A metal gear will have to be found in my invetopry or severe alerations for a standard servo. NOW Nitro planes does not make the ARF they just get them in from a factory in China and sell them here. My guess is that when you buy a bunch of planes to resell you need to turn them over quickly, before complete testing of the product, and before the word (AVOID) gets out on the internet. Bob |

Right, use the mini's.
Just file out a little wood and you're good to go. |
RE: Cessna 337-25 ala Nitro Planes
I am no friend of Nitro Planes, and in fact if you had called them for advice as to servo size to use, I am confident they would have no idea. But, jeeze, you have been building for 12 years and you are are baffled by the task of fitting servos to an Arf? C'mon, you know you can do it, I know you can do it. Just step up to the plate! :)

Yes, I can fit a servo to an ARF.Here I fit a Hitec HS-125 thinwing servo into the stab for the elevator.
N.P. wanted two servos in the tail booms to work the elevator, 1 on the side 1 on the bottom. The purpose of this post is to give others a heads up! |

The servo pockets were opened up by 3/64" or about 1 mm in BOTH length and width.
Depth is a fine for a MINI but not for a standard size servo. So plan on using a Hitec HS-225BB or HS-225MG or equivalent. Carving out wing servo pockets is no problem a steady hand and and sharp #11 Exacto knife. Now the throttle and nose gear steerigng are about 4 1/4" deep inside the fuselage. |

Errors in the manual for mount a glow motor, they give one dimension which is wrong for both front ad rear.
