I think $2000 is just about right on. 100 more or 100 less as close as I can figure!! But I think any figure less than that, it would be hard to get into gassers with any (quality.) Radio, servos, & motor choice MUST be top of the line! One thing thats for sure it's not cheap. AJT ;^) |

AJT,
I have been running a 22x8 zinger pro. My Taurus runs very smooth also. It doesn't vibrate any more than my OS 160. I was thinking about trying a 22x8 Menz next. Lenny |

DIESEL,
I have tried a mens 22/8s. Performance was just as good as the 22/10 mejzlik a little less speed at full throttle, and a bit higher RPM's. However the next time I fly (this Sunday) I will tac both props too see what rpm range I am in, and probably fly the mejzlik because I did find at half throttle the mejzlik was cleaner then the mens. The mens was a little burbled. or should I say not as clean at half throttle and both were very clean and strong at top end. (all this was done with " FACTORY" settings!) Idle and transition were great with both props. I had a hard time shutting the motor off with low trim. thats how low this thing idles. Maybe I'am wrong but it seemed to me the motor liked the heaver prop. I really don't know that much about gassers just learning as I go along. AJT. |

I already have all the radio gear, I'm just looking to get the plane and engine, and the nerve to fly it!
|
Advice on gas plane
evfast,
Hindsight is, this particular airplane is easier too fly then my low wing trainer was! I was all nervous for nothing. go for it! AJT ;^) |
Advice on gas plane
Thanks, I'm going for it! I still dont know wich plane Texas H or Patty?
|
My choice is the Patty
Evfast,
No matter what airplane you buy get a good 50 gas engine. BME, ZDZ, or DA. Light weight and awsome power leaves you many choces of airplanes to use them in (wish there were even more) Don't even consider a 40. Not worth it when you consider the 50's available weigh the same and cost pennies more. The Patty is the best looking airplane I own. I wish I could build that good but even if I could there is no way I could have bought a kit this big, built it myself and paid less than the $379.00 I paid for my Patty. That includes shipping from Chief Aircraft. Mine has the fiberglass wing tubes also. Very sweet!! The performance with my BME 50 is awsome. I only use a 21X8 Airwild prop and you woulnd't believe the vertical performance. I may switch to a 22X8 prop in the future but I really don't need it to go straight up any faster than it does right now. Good luck with your choice. |
Check this out.
www.extremeflightrc.com I just checked out this site and I'm excited. Perhaps I'll get one of these someday also. The Patty I'm flying is half the cost of the planes at extremeflightrc.com but man do they have some sweet airplanes for 50 size gas engines. Their kits are actually about $250 more than the Wagstaff but they look great online. LOL

Fancman:
You are correct their kits are a (little pricey) for the 50cc market. But I think the wing tube is made of a lite weight composite material, and I believe the hardware is of ROCKET CITY type If thats the case then it would make the price a little closer (but still pricey) to the average cost of any completed airplane in that size. Since almost everyone I know replaces the hardware for the ROCKET CITE TYPE QUALITY. Thats just rumor I don't know that to be fact. Also EXTREME told me via e-mail they will be marketing a 50cc size arf-- ULTIMATE-- this fall! let's hope thats true, because I WANT ONE!!!!!!. AJT ;^) |
Ultimate
That would be way cool. I want one too. I hear the ones out now are just a little to small for the 50's available so it would be fantastic if they come out with something suitable to what so many of us have.

I think I was told 65" wingspan and same for fuse Not quite sure but I've got to be close
|
Advice on gas plane
I'm going to start saving up for one right now. I'm going to get one for sure if they are any good. (smile) Hope we see some flight reports on their other kits by that time. 65 X 65 with a flying weight of let's say 16 lbs would be something awesome, wouldn't it?

Isn't the guy who started Extreme Flight one of the guys that was with RadioCraft? I think I heard something about Extreme flight before. I like the looks of that 40% Extra they have too.

No sir thats not me! I'am just a fellow modeler like yourself trying to find the best airplane for 50cc size motors! I have no desire to trailer or to own a large van in order to fly my airplanes!! Thats why I find this size so attractive. So the search goes on & on & on. LOL AJT ;^) |
Advice on gas plane
Don't pay me no mind....I was just dreaming out loud on the 40% bird. (sigh) LOL
|
Advice on gas plane
Me too!!
It's not the coast of the plane, It's the cost of the vehicle to carry the plane that bothers me. LOL!! |
TEXAS HURRICANE; YEAH!!!!!!
MINE IS A BLAST WITH A G-45 ON IT. SAY WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT ZENOAH ENGINES; THEY ARE SIMPLE TO USE, ECONOMICAL, AND RELIABLE. THE HURRICANE AND G-45 ARE A TERRIFIC COMBO FOR THE VALUE...............
|
Advice on gas plane
Did someone mention Zenoah? I'm glad you're happy with yours. That's great.
|
Advice on gas plane
I totally agree the HURRICANE has too be one of the most forgiving ARF's available to new gas fliers. Does everything in the book and lands like a trainer. Ya gotta love it!

What plane are you flying? And what 50cc motor are you using to tear up the SKY!! |
Advice on gas plane
Woops,
sorry I just found the answers looking back on page two. gp--patty w with a bme 50. sounds like a great combo!! |
Advice on gas plane
I originally had a BME 44 on it but had a guy here that didn't want to wait for a plane to come in so he bought my Patty and the 44. I was happy about that because I had the money to then go and buy the 50 and a new patty. I use a 21X8 airwild prop and I can't even begin to tell you what a difference it made. First flight and I'm heading straight up like a rocket.
I heard from Extreme RC and they do plan on a 65 X 65 ultimate and are shooting for a 14 lb airplane. Sounds good to me and even if its 16 lbs I think 50cc gassers will fly it well. |
Advice on gas plane
If they come out with that airplane I WILL buy one!!!!!
I plan on flying in the morning I will tac my T-52 with both props menzlik 22/10 and menz 22/8-s With either prop the plane is part rocket i HAVEN'T TRIED A airwild yet. weight in at 15lb 10oz with a harris smoke system dry of course. O yea I almost forgot to mention I vacation a HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC. almost every year. I really like your state. AJT ;^) |
