110 Rascal gas engine install
Has anyone installed a Zanoha 26cc in this aircraft? Wondering what the balance I should expect.

RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
should have included that this is a26ei.

RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
That is exactly what I am looking to do also. Need some feedback if anyone has some knowlege of a G-26ei/Rascal 110 combo.

Balances without a problem. No lead needed using the magneto version Doc

Great!!! I have been doing alot of research on gassers in this size range and I am really leaning towards the Brillelli 26-SSR. It along with the guys at Berillelli have great reviews. It is actually lighes by a few ounces than the Zenoah and put out a little more power. I am also loooking real hard at the Futaba 10C 2.4 SS. It will be about 150 bucks less than the x9303 and have averything I need except the model match that the spectrum and JR SS radios have.

I have finished mine for the most part. I am still working out the best engine prop combo and the linkage on the engine but other than that this is one great flying bird. Man can she float. Makes some beautiful loops also. Here is a pic. I will get some in the air soon I hope. The pics came out small so here ia a direct link to phtobucket.

RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
I was thinking of installing my Evolution 26GT v.1 engine in my Rascal 110. I was also considering using the tuned pipe for this engine, if the header length is appropriate. I think the Rascal 110 would look neat with a pipe down the side.

RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
My pipe is hidden under cowel
Don at Hreat hobbys made it for me . simple 1,2 inch sq tube drill and cut exaust outlet cut of to length weld a lawn morower tube type muffler out of site and nice and quiet |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
Sparkey,
Could you please give me directions on how to order a muffler for using the Evo 26 on Rascal 110? Thank you! Flavio |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
sorry I do not think his intention was to make these for everyone . However I will give instruction and you can do it yourself
Watch for the posting |

[Ok
You will need about five inches tubing and one lawn mower muffler from Canadian tire or lawn shop. this muffler is made from an old chair frame or buy a piece of 3/4 sq. tubing weld cap both ends cut exausty outlet 1 by 3/8 inch Drill bolt holes for attachment to engine Cut hole in bottom for muffler attachment. Before welding check for fit as Rascal does not have any extra space off to the side. Pictures below |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
Sparkey, I like your muffler! 3/4" square steel tube, and was the nipple end of muffler 3/4" or 1/2" ? Did you cut out a portion of side of nipple to allow gas flow thru the side or was the nipple just barely inset into the square tubing?
|
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
That is a very interesting design for a muffler. The square tubing saves the builder a lot of worry about creating a flat mounting surface to the engine. Let us know what the rpm figures are with and without the muffler. I'm very curious. TIA

RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
As the muffler was made for me I am try to see inside
Looks like the muffler hole was enlarger to just short of the side of the sq. tubing. This muffler has baffles in it that could be removed for more power if needed .However it seem very good noise and power wise. Sparky |

This will give you a view of how it fits. No cowel cutting

Sparkey and all,
I didn't have any lawn mower muffler. So, I used the chair frame for the whole thing. Let me know what you think and if it will work fine. Thanks Sparkey, for the neat idea! Flavio |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
Bien.Gracia's :)
It looks great if you find it to noisy then you can put a muffler on it. Sometimes simple is best. The chair frame is what my friend suggested but then he took over as I don't weld and use stock steel. Sparky Or Bien. Sparky Ps hope this is right |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
Sparkey,
I admire your efforts in Spanish but we actually speak Portuguese in Brazil! :) In Portuguese it would be like: " Parace ótimo. Se voce achar muito barulhento, voce pode usar um escapamento. Ás vezes, simplicidade é melhor. A armação da cadeira é o que meu amigo sugeriu, mas então ele reslveu fazer, já que eu não soldo, e usou aço." Thanks again for the tips! Flávio |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
Well
It was fun trying sorry I picked the wrong language. Good luck with your rascal. you will love it Sparkey |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
we run g26ei on them and it is great but doesn't have enough to torque roll
|
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
Sparkey,
For what I know in spanish, you're doing pretty well! :) I love the Rascal. I'm converting it to gas. I spent 1 year flying her with an OS 120 4-stroke, but the oil is really annoying... Flavio |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
Tinaz
I agree but what eles could a person put in them that would fit and get more power?? I don't think they were design for high speed manovers.Although I put mine into some heavy duty spins.LOL Sparkey |
RE: 110 Rascal gas engine install
