Robostruts for GP PT-19?
Does anyone have a Great Planes PT-19 with Robart Robostruts? Robart lists a set for the Dynaflite PT-19 and another set for the H9 PT-19. Will one of these sets work on the Great Planes PT-19?

PT19 Struts
According to Robart, the H9 PT19 Struts are interchangeable with the GP PT19.

Robostruts for GP PT-19?
I just finished installing a set of the H9 (Robart # PT19HA9) struts on my GP PT19. Very easy conversion and very clean setup (took about 30 min., and I work slow). The H9 and GP both have 5mm landing gear wire so they fit perfectly. Be careful, the Dynaflite has 1/4" legs. I don't think you could make them fit correctly. Another consideration is the weight of the planes. The Dynaflite weigh about 16 lbs, the H9 about 13 and my GP 10. I talked to the guys at Robart and they think the H9 springs will be ok, but if they're too stiff I can get softer replacements from them. I also went to 4" Robart wheels. I've always thought the GP's 3.5" wheels looked too small and the H9's 5" looked WAY too big. I'll let you know how they work after the weekend, with pictures.

Robostruts for GP PT-19?
Dugster,
thanks for the info! I ordered the Robostruts for the H9 PT-19, and they should be here in a couple of days. I might check out the Robart 4" wheels also, I like the look of them. Let me know how the springs work out. What engine are you using? I have a Saito 100 on the way for mine, but not sure what prop to use. |
Robostruts for GP PT-19?
Mine's got a OS .91 Surpass I with a 14x6 wood MAS. I've also seen one fly with the Saito 100, and it's good! I don't know which prop he's using though. You should be able to swing a 15". 15x6 or maybe 15x8. There is a thread farther down this topic on engines for this plane.

Got to fly with the new Robostruts this past weekend. Very Cool. They look good annd work great. The plane is a lot less likely to bounce now. The springs might be a little too stiff, but I'm going to reserve judgement for a while and get some more flights in. The biggest problem so far - watching the struts work and NOT watching the plane! :D

Struts
Dugster, struts look great, I think the sping action will get better with more use at least that is what some of our PT19 flyers have told us.

Robostruts for GP PT-19?
I have the robostruts on the GP pt-19 for the last year. I think that the springs are too tight for the weight of this plane. I would like to replace them. Does anyone have a part number for the softer springs from Robart?
Thanks |

RE: Robostruts for GP PT-19?
could someone post pics on how they put the socet head cap screw on the struts. I planned on putting it through the wheel where the cover over the wheel willl cover it and as i screw threw the strut put the nut on the back and cut off the excess off of the screw if this makes sense to anyone thanks mike
