Does anyone have a pic or any comments about this plane, just about the plane not the company. I already know the quality issues.

I've seen the airsail kit of this plane at our field and it seem to be of better quality and look than the Vmar. The airsail has a much better fitting cowl. The plane has quite a large diameter fuselage for a 46size plane. Don't know how it flys though, the guy crashed it on takeoff for its maiden flight. Also 200 bucks for the airsail one. Overall they look quite nice and I am seriously considering getting one.

Flies very well, although mine is a bit under-powered with a T.T. 54 4C. No big pitch changes with flap.
Even with a hefty nicad (4400 ma) up front for the on-board glo, it still needed a chunk of lead to balance OK.
The nosewheel steering needs only a little travel as it's not that far ahead of the mains.

I also built the Airsail version (kit) which took a fairly long while to complete. Looked nicer but was fiddly gluing all the control surface skins in place and getting the elevator nyrod set up as it runs up inside the fin.

The VMAR instruction book shows the same elevator control system as Airsail, but as supplied, the VMAR aircraft has a check out in the side of the fin to accept a servo with the extension cord already run through the fuse.

The kit has a nice instrument panel, control yokes, seats etc.
Also used a TT 54 4C in this one.

I thought they handled very much the same, the VMAR is almost an exact copy of the Airsail (I just heard a rumour that Airsail had recently lodged some sort of legal action against VMAR)
The Airsail kit was comprehensive with excellent building instructions and enjoyable to build. Fitting the control surface ribbed PVC skins was fiddly, even the control horns are 'inside' the hinge lines on the flaps, ailerons & elevators, the only visible horn is on the rudder. Really nice cockpit included. Fully balsa sheeted except for mouldings for the cowl, the forward lower section of the fuse, under the wing centre-section and a section just aft of the wing.
The VMAR Tomahawk is much improved over their earlier ARF's.
Nicely presented colour instruction booklet, very basic cockpit detail with one bug eyed pilot !
They must have decided the elevator nyrod was too hard to connect so moulded a cavity into the fin to accept a servo for direct linkage to the elevators. Seems to work OK.

With the elevators out of the prop wash they will not 'rotate' on take off until a reasonable speed, likewise you wouldn't want to be a bit too slow on short final (especially if not using flap) as the elevator response is dependant purely on airspeed.
They both look really nice on the ground & in flight. Rate of roll is good, no big pitch changes with flap.
The difference in price is about $50 (plus glues and paint etc for the Airsail) If you enjoy building and are not in a hurry, I'd go Airsail.

Sounds like the full scale one. The full scale plane never had a problem with elevator response during landing. Though rotation on takeoff is delayed a bit. Not that much though. If you hold full up elevator during the takeoff roll it will pitch up suddenly. You have to react quick to keep from pitching too much for short field takeoffs. But if you look at the airspeed it actually rotates under the stall speed.

I have flown the VMAR version using a TT 61 PRO swinging a 12X6 prop. No need for extra weight in the nose with this engine. The plane flew at 1/3 throttle once it was airborne. The plane is squirrelly, like the previous posters have said, with characterisitcs much like the real airplane. If you try and force it to take off before it is ready, it will lift off, then set back down and continue to bounce along then become airborne. When landing it, keep a little throttle in it, and don't chop the throttle and try to float it in, Hwne you stall, the tail loses it lift, probably being blocked by the wing at the AOI increases. This causes it to lose all the elevator effectiveness and she drops like rock. The first time I did this I broke the fiberglass landing gear strut and a call to VMAR got me a new one. In the air at 1/3 throttle (with the 60) she flows around and is very gentle. The flaps work well, just don't get too slow. The high T-tail is a unique feature to this plane and takes a little getting used to. The overall quality is pretty good. The plastic parts don't match the covering exactly. The fiberglass cowl is of better quality than most of the other VMAR kits.
