uproar good enough?
i have been looking for a all out 3D/aerobatic plane with a resonable price (100-150)( capable of hovering) and found the towerhobbies uproar 40 ARF. this plane looks like what im looking for. Is it? is this a good plane to buy and how well do you think i will perform? if its not so good do you think you could give me a reccomendation?
any help appreciated thks |
RE: uproar good enough?
This probably isn't the best 3D plane. It sounds like you might like a profile:

RE: uproar good enough?
I've bought from OMP and Swanys. Both were great. never bought from Extreme Flite but I see plenty of their planes and they have a good reputation. Yo might search around for other places that have profiles too.
Check out the Edge 540 ARF from OMP. It flys very easy and hovers almost effortlessly. |
RE: uproar good enough?
The uproar is a turn around fun fly plane. It does not fit 3D parameters.
You can have a lot of fun with the plane if it is set up correctly but without a lot of modification, it is not even a beginner 3 D plane. One of the main give aways is that the ailerons do not come up to the fuselage where they can be in the propeller slip stream in a vertical situation. There is not enough fuselage height for knife edge etc etc |

Modeltech 3Demon .46 by Hobby People. This a 3D plane that is on sale for $99. Sorry, it was on sale.

RE: uproar good enough?
The uproar is not a plane for 3D. I have an uproar that I enlarged the control surfaces and added turtle decking but that still didn't make it 3D. The plane is definitly a blast to fly though. Definitly worth the cheap price tag.

RE: uproar good enough?
I have had 2 uproars in the past. They are great flying planes, I really enjoyed them. One bit the dust really bad, the other I gave to my cousin. I may build another again, but I first need to finish up some other projects (so many planes to build, so little time and money!)

RE: uproar good enough?
Just happened to come across your post in this forum. I usually do the kit building forum but I was bored waiting for some 60min epoxy to dry. Any-way I had to recomend the Twist by Hangar-nine. I've got one and as my first 3-d plane it is a lot of fun. I have been flying for about 30 years but always flew sport until my son got into the 3-d thing. His first plane was a Up-roar60 with a AX-75. Hovers were fine but not able to keep up with the rest of the guys at the field in the other areas. I bought the Twist in an attempt to keep up with him and she will do everything I can, which may not be all that much but hover, flat spin, knife-edge, and ona good day a rolling circle or two. It has definatly been able to do everything so far that I can and no doubt some things that I can't. Mine is the 40 sized with a AX-55. Yea I'm an AX fan. One fun plane

RE: uproar good enough?
I am looking for a good fun fly plane and this looks like the one. can it do outside loops? that is one of the stunts that most guys fall short on. Also how hard is it to taxi between cones?
thanks Tony |
RE: uproar good enough?
It will do the outside loops and taxi tests fine
It is not so controllable for vertical without changing the flaps a little Knide edge is poor because of no side area |
