RE: The Man Cave
Yeah, I know, I've gone just a tad overboard....but I'm having the time of my life:D
|
RE: The Man Cave
yes, and no. One day it will be pretty decent out, like today. But this weekend its supposed to be low 40s and rainy snowy. Progress is slow also because my dad is out of the country right now. He will be back hopefully soon.

RE: The Man Cave
ORIGINAL: north dakota kid Well here are the pictures finally. Are you going to skin it with shiplap or similar? |
RE: The Man Cave
We are going to skin it with metal siding of some kind. The industrial grade stuff. Hey, anybody have any ideas as to how to put the loft in the cave?

Well, finally some pictures to show progress. Got one coat of paint on the exterior. For now we are sticking with just painting the outside. The loft is up also. We are going to get another coat of paint on the outside, get the electrical done and start moving in. For now, pics. (Final two pics are of our previous R/C work place)

ORIGINAL: ScottMcM Here are my man caves. I keep most of my planes in my workshop out back, but I keep my ''hangar queens'' in a spare room in the house. I'm running out of room[:o] |
RE: The Man Cave
Shouter now you need some nice wing racks ect , maximize that space !!
Ok , next on your list , paved walkway to the paved runway that will run into that giant field in your backyard !!!!! , man that is one nice flying field in your yard !!!! Ok next add the fighting suex (spell check ) logo on the shop , with two ice hockey sticks croosed , its will now be officially sacret and not touched by anyone !!!! The only thing stronger then a ND ice hockey fan is the winter months !!!! |
RE: The Man Cave
We do need wing racks, and hangers to hang the fuses. Anybody have pictures of their ways to hang their planes?
LDM, Thats one great thing about living in North Dakota, its wide open almost everywhere! It would be great to have a paved runway out there, it would be great to have money to do that too! That is a good idea to put the Sioux logo up on it. I cannot believe that they have to change the name. UND has and will always be the FIGHTING SIOUX! |

Shouter, Here's my rack for my planes and wings. The plane racks are made from 1/2" ply ripped to 6" wide and foam pipe insulation for padding. They'll handle more weight than I'll be putting on them. The wing rack is from the hardware store. Adjustable shelf tracks and shelf brackets with more foam pipe insulation. I hope this helps.
Cheers! BH |
RE: The Man Cave
BH...your first picture of this last post begs me to ask the question: When did you decide to run an LHS out of your home?
|
RE: The Man Cave
Victor, It seems that when I'm working on something, there's always that one thing that keeps me from finishing. So I've managed to 'collect' a bunch of gizmos and doo-dads. It's nice to have stuff on hand when you're trying to finish one of those late night builds. I've seriously considered thinning things down to maybe two planes and a smaller 'parts dept.' to make some room and to fund my 'heli bug'. Helis don't take up near as much space either, LOL. Cheers! BH

RE: The Man Cave
I have a lot going on in my shop... The airplane storage is simple, yet effective. I just get some 59 cent eye hooks and screw them in to the joists then I use bungee cords around the nose and tail to "fly" the models from the ceiling. The 70,000 btu Natural gas radiant heater at the front of the shop keeps the place nice and toasty in the LONG *** winter here!
