i just got a dazzler arf 40 size. going to put a supertiger 45 in it. anyone else have one? what do you guys recommend extra. some i think talk about adding stuff to make landing gear area stronger. any one that did this have pictures of the change?
this one will be cheeper to wreck than the mustang.
was going to get the uproar but it is backordered till mid may.

You'll love this funflyer, Got one with a 46AX on it's nose and it's a blast. I just left it bone stock and haven't had any issues with it other than a fence post through the wing that I repaired, and continue taking it with me everytime I fly

how was the parts that came with the plane?
the engine mount in the instructions is the metal clamp kind like mp pts mkII. the one on the plane is a plastic one that is a bit too narrow for the supertiger 45 i got. i think it will work out. but the instructions have the engine much closer to the firewall than possable with the plastic setup. i guess if it is heavy on the nose tail weight is not too bad.since it is far away from c.g.
the servo plate in the wing will not fit with the long square pieces it mounts on.had to trim it narrower. then had to widen the inside for the servoes to sit down. what a long pain in the A.
got distracted 9 1/2 weeks is on encore.
ok i may get it done tomorrow. i have no idea where i am putting the reciever as of yet. i got the 6200 with remote reciever.

I am just finishing up my Dazzlar - what a piece of $%^&.
I hope it flies better than it builds.
I'm starting with my 40 LA and will put on the 46 FX when I get a chnce to break it in.
I will eventually do a piece on all of the build problems.

I had to add a weighted prop nut to balance, you may be OK there.
Receiver fitting is tight with standard 72 receiver - good luck on that one.
The wheel locks I got did not fit on the landing gear I got.
The motor mount hardware was metric not SAE as the instructions listed.
My buddy recommended throwing out their engine mount bolts - to soft.

Good Luck and report back on how it flies.

you'll love the dazzler, it's a fun little plane. I'm flying my uproar now and a friend has the dazzler, they fly a lot alike. they're a good aerobatic plane to play with, then move the CG back some and it will do some 3D moves.

so for the most part it is done. got to check the cg tomorrow with help. wow either i am slow not doing this stuff for 25 years or it was hard. so the parts missing as far as i can tell is i was short the two clips out of four that hold the radio hatch on. the #2 sheet metal screws i wish more came with i would of put 8 of those landing gear straps on.
trim the area of the wing ribs down before putting wing halfs together to make room for the throttle servo to set all the way down. i had to trim what i could and add 1/16 plywood shim.
the 4/40 cap head screw (allen) was missing for one of the throttle cable clamps glad i got a couple packs of small screws and 4/40 was one of them.
man setting up the servos and linkages and the programing of the radio (DX6i) took a while. but i got it.
now it is going to rain 3 days. go figure.going to charge the reciever tonight .

I guess some ppl find it hard, and some will build and enjoy the challenge of the setup. I guess my previous post was misplaced when I said bone stock (guess linkages weren't). As I progress in this hobby, I like to try whats out there for linkage setups and combination's of all them. So on my builds now I try all different things, meaning I don't look at what it came with, I look at what I'm going to put in it. I did find it a bit tight to get the mechanical ends in, but it does fit. Don't discourage, it's just a fun challenge, the more challenge the more you'll love it when it's in the air.

I recently kit-built one and powered it with a .46LA. It took about an ounce of weight in the nose to balance with the RX and battery as far forward as possible.

The landing gear area seems plenty strong as designed, if the ARF is anything like the kit. My dry weight is right around 4 pounds.

I have only flown it about 4-5 times so far, but it is a lot of fun. The ST-45 will make it haul. You should be able to balance it by moving the battery back.

The biggest downside to the ST-45 will be flight times. They are pretty hungry engines, and the plane only has room for a 6 ounce tank.

nice work. how did you get the wing ribs out or did u make them?(from what).
today rain all day. going to finnish the pts mkII . glad i do not have a g.f. now. if i said i am busy putting a plane together wow then she would feel like competing with my motorcycles,drag car, and airplanes. wow...

this is suspose to be my cheep plane so i got the st-45. do stick on weights stay stuck on the coating of the plane?
should of got the os 46 or tower hobbies .4xx but i just got back into this and supertiger was a good name i remember and it was less then 70 bucks. guess i should put my flight timer lower than 10 min on this one?

Just made a pattern with the smashed ones and cut them out of 1/8 balsa sheet

They will not stick forever. Oil residue will get to the adhesive and they will fall off. I'd run a screw through the weight and into the wood. Or, can you get the weights inside the fuselage and glue them in place?


Run a through a tank of fuel on the ground, at wide open throttle, and time it. You probably will not fly wide open all the time but that will give you a starting point for your timer.

I wanted one of those 150 in 1 electronic project kits so bad when I was a kid, but I never got one.

What size prop are you running? It looks small in the photo, like about 8 inches.

it says apc 10x7 on it. i am a electrician at a huge saw mill and i thought i would get it out and play with circuits. well everytime i get it out and see the mess of wires i put it away(back on the floor).
i added 1.75 oz in the back and am staying there.i will keep a eye on them. i am sure i can screw them in if the wood is thick enough. or take the coating off and re coat it. time will tell.
i am going to grease the wheels and wait for the rain to stop.

Red rocket, if you found the ARF challenging, you might want to explore one of the "plug-n-play" packages next time. The small problems you ran into should not be that frustrating. I'm sure you will forget any of those problems once you get her in the air anyway. Hope you enjoy it.

got to fly it today once matt took it off and trimed it then i flew it and landed it. i am going to mod the engine mount to get it back farther like the position in the instructions instead of where it is at way out. it flew nice. after a couple of thank i may lean on it a bit but for now rich is safe.
the supertiger 45 was real tight. was a B**** ti get started the electric starter stalled out often. after the 5min rich wide open it was much better. then we were up about 7 min or so putting about 1/2 .had about 1/3 to 1/4 left. you guys are on when someone said the st45 is thirsty.
i think the landing wire is very flimsy i do not like it.

Don't fret, as you get some time on the ST it will start easier and as you lean it out, it will use much less fuel. Hey, you got it back in one piece, right? :D Not sure if there is any ply in the bottom of the fuse strong enough to mount aluminum formed gear to, so you might be stuck w/ the wire gear. I'm sure it will be more fun as you get it dialed in to your liking!

almost got the engine back in. i moved the engine back so the rear holes are now the front and redrilled the rear ones. had to trim the bottom flat for the nuts. now reassemble and i will post pictures. then re balance. hope no rain tomorrow afternoon.

the landing gear on this plane is junk. i have never gotten to taxie it back yet. yes i am landing in grass but even a rolling stop the wheels are bent flat and out some what. was up 4 times. last time i leaned it out till it ran correctly. till that it was a full turn rich from now with apc(which broke last flite) 10x7. now a evo 11x6 on it.
anyone put aluminum gear on thier dazzler? i am thinking i am going to. i took out a lot of aleron throw so i do not over do it. i am at only 30%. pull the switch and it looks like it wants to brake them off. hehe...i need stick time.
looks like a loupe is a 12ft dia circle. tight.
let me know what you guys did with the gear.

I had one someone crashed and I fixed for them, When I went to give it to him, he told me to hang it on my wall because it was too much plane for him (he is in his 80's) and it turned out to be my fly every week plane, and I did more repairs and patches on it and no matter how bad it looked it always flew great. Miss that plane, Lost it in the fall but now seeing this thread I think I may order another Dazzler. but I might order the Uproar kit and make my own turtle deck, and add some strength to the fuse ware it meets the wing (the real weak spot on this plane) OH and build it to fit some real LG, The stock ones where always getting re bent. Another option I might do is the tail surfaces to make it a little more 3D capable, The stock is just a little small for 3D. these are just all around great and fun flying planes. I had a OS 46FX on mine, and it was way more than enough power for this plane. Still got the crashed carcus and planned to rebuild, but might just get the kit for $50 and start fresh, Fast building kit too. OH and 2000redrocket try a 12x4 on that engine, A 10x7 will give you too much speed and although this plane doesn't need more climb the 12x4 will give it to you, and the plane will seem more responsive to the throttle changes. I added flaperons and could actually land it to a stop in about 3 feet of runway with a very slight headwind. once you get used to what this plane can do you will love it as a every day flier or the one you take for a quick flight.
