engine angle on Hobbico Superstar trainer
Hi all
I purchased thistrainer in very good used condition used from a friend and noticed that the engine is installed slightly angled to the left (when viewed from behind the plane) Hmmmm.....I have 2 issues with this... Issue #1...The assembly manual states that the engine should not be angled, it should point straight ahead. However the engine mount has a spacer behind it which causes the engine to point slightly left. Issue #2...to counteract engine torque during flight, should the engine not be pointing slightly to the right instead of the left? (prop spins clockwise when viewed from behind) Help! |

Many models, especially trainer types, have the firewall installed at a slight angle to provide right thrust when the engine is "straight" in the mount. I think the Superstar is like that.
If you are new to RC, I do not think you should do a lot of guessing or adjusting based on RCU posts. I would ask an experienced pilot to look the plane over and recommend any changes. He could possibly do the maiden flight. The MAAC has a club listing so it might be easier than you think to find local help. http://www.maac.ca |

I reversed the spacer to give it right thrust, and flew my first two flights with it yesterday. The plane flew great and I did fairly well ..was so excited Isomehow managed to taxi it right into my field box. Broke the prop and engine mount.
