After I posted I called a friend that is into electronics and he said you need 3 volts more than
the batteries you are going to charge minimum when using a ac/dc power supply. I'm sorry
T3 I didn't ask why but I will try to remember to ask him for you.

So if you were charging a 9.6V battery 13.8 volts would be good. I run nimhs and 9.6V is the highest
voltage I use so the 13.8V power supply is great for me.
This is true... its a good thing I don't have any 9.6v batteries to charge!http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gif But, if you want you can up the voltage of the PSU there are +3v and +5v power wires you can connect to your +12v power line in order to up the volts. If I add all 3 of them together that would be +20V, and on my PSU it says this would be @ 288W max way more than what I will need.

most PSU's you buy now have 400-600w of power plenty for hobby needs.

I'm Back. My Dad went back home and my time is back to normal.

I did get to go out last week to fly The Sbach but the weather turned on me by the time I got there. Thunder and lightning and some good rain to boot. Thats why there was no report.

Is anyone else flying? Let us know.

Just a little tid bit on Batteries.

My plane has sat for 6 days since I charged it. I didn't get to fly it the last time I went to the field. I plugged in the charger on the A123s and they only took 23 mAh each. They charged up in less time then it took to set up the charger, around 2 minutes. NiMH loose about 350 mAh overnight the first night. Don't know about how much it looses after that.
I like these A123s.
Maybe we'll go flying today. I still don't know for sure.

We made it out and now have two new Sboch pilots. My friend Mike with A/W Yak. Who isn't used to fly ing anything this small and My Son Tom Jr. who isn't used to flying anything this big. They both liked it. That means it must be an all around great size.

Getting a video together that my son took. I'll post it later.

The 28 performed great once again. Plenty of power for your needs.

OK guys here is Video #2. It was a little windy but not bad.

I need to make some adjustments on the radio to help me Hover otherwise I'll never be like TJ.
You guys are welcome to give some advise on where I need to make some changes.

Everything Tom has said about this plane has been very accurate. It flies like a much larger plane and can be very smooth if you desire. The 28cc engine on it is a screamer. More than enough power to do anything with this plane. I said in Raphael's MX2 forum that this size plane is going to be the new leader of the pack, in place of the 50cc planes. After flying Tom's I can say that I underestimated how good this sized plane flies. And the best part is, you can haul it in anything. Like Old Tom said, "it fits in everything from a Pickup to a Pinto". The quality of the construction looked good, so did the covering, and so did the hardware. Thanks again Tom for letting me play with it lol!!!

The only thing I regret is that winter is coming and our flying time is diminishing. Will try again tomorrow and maybe we can get Rafs MX2 up also.

Mike. You can fly it some more tomorrow if you can make it.

HOLY CRAP that was windy!   You could hear it almost as loud as the engine.  still tracked and flew very well.

Tom, when you do a 45degree upline then flip to inverted, does it continue to rise, slowly start to fade off, or quickly fade off and head toward the ground?  I'm betting you could slide the CG back now that you have a good handle on landing it.  But do that test and report (or report).  Having the CG in the right place will make it MUCH easier.  If it's nose heavy, you'll be fighting it all day in a hover.

RE: Redwing 30cc Sbach Build

Thanks Tim. It noses over slowly in an inverted 45 up line.
Bet I could move the C/G back a little.
I could also use a better Throttle curve. Having a hard time finding a sweet spot. I never messed with the Throttle Curve before.

PS: On low rates you could hardly tell that the wind was blowing. Rock Steady.

That's pretty good then.  If it slowy falls but does after a few seconds start heading to the ground then you could move it back a touch.  if it stays pretty steady and barely falls towards the ground I would leave it

Take a few heavy washers with you and tape them on one at a time under the rudder (fuse really), and if it feels better, easier to hover, but isn't a handful to land then move test the CG where it flies best.  Put some tape there, then take the weights off, and move your batteries etc back until it balances on the tape again

Does this make sense?

It`s not as windy as Kansas but we have 52 acres of clear land. No trees and no houses almost. Almost always 15mph wind or more. Gotta love the wind.

I'm sorry I missed out today's airshow. Seems the SBACH is quite a good aerobat, can't wait to try the MX2. Today I was too late because it took me little while to balance the plane. I set it up at 5 1/4" from the leading edge at the root per Tim recommendations. Moved it forward about 1/8" just to make it a tad nose heavy for the maiden, I'll readjust it after flight testing. Set the throws per manufacturer recommendations, except I added in-between throws in order to have three flight modes in my 9303.

Tomorrow should be the big day weather and the good Lord permitting.

Hey Raph - let us know how it goes and how you love it!

Here's the bigger brother 50cc sbach.  TJ did me a huge favor and did the build video.  I did a humorous intro as a joke, but figured i'd leave it on there long enough for you guys to see (justin timberlake is involved :)  Let me know what you think before I take that part out, lol!

We have a new Sboch Pilot. It's Bob. He also was the test pilot on Rafael's MX2.

We had a great day flying today The Sboch is turning out to be a blast to fly. I may have to get another one just so I can fly one.[sm=lol.gif]

Rafael's MX2 video has a link from the MX2 thread. You can view it there. Or on my video page.

Here is another Sboch Video with Mike And Bob Flying it.

I guess I didn't realize that the link changes every time you post a new video. I'll have to figure out how to do that so it don't change.

Yet another great candidate for the OS 160 and smoke. Now if we could only get some job creation in this country.

I agree Cowboy.  I really REALLY wish I could make these in the states.  Trust me, I looked into it, but I don't think anyone here would pay $500 for the same plane.  If anyone has ideas on how please contact me.  I'm serious.  I'd love to take it out of China and into the states.

Oh it's not you at all. It's this out of control Socialist group we got running the joint. Yea you could make them here for the same price if the government would get out of the way.

I just want a job with more hours so I can spend some money on a Redwing RC plane. Barely enough to keep the lights on around here now days.

Just like to ask you guys to keep Politics out of the thread. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I try to use RC as an escape from Politics.

Thanks ahead of time for granting me this.
