Just like way back when, When my brother in-law bought a car and on the front it said Dodge Omni and on the back Plymouth Horizon! Either way he got rid of the little gutless wonder a year later!

Sorry too say Tailskid but yes in the Graupner fuse the pilot had enormous airbags for protection, but the guy from seagull was looking for his beard to save him.:):)

At that time the plane new was £129 the spare fuselage was £80. I hunted around the net and noticed that the Seagull models Extra looked pretty much the same apart from the Pilot Patty Wagstaff had a sex change but who cares who was driving it. I was on holiday in Florida and I found a supplier for the fuselage who sent it to Florida for about $80 including postage , i took a chance on that but when it arrived it even had similar part numbers in the same location and all my Graupner parts swapped straight over. So too back up Pennbritt we don't get always get the extra quality we believe we are paying for, when I buy Graupner I don't expect Seagull models or BH for that matter. There is also the issue of glueing joints which are lacking or have insufficient glue, if we all took this crap back as NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE the importers would get the message, after all would you be happy to buy a new car and the dealer have you spotweld a few panels because the guys at the factory couldn't be bothered to do their job properly. I still do build from kits when I fancy a project but am guilty of buying ARTF. Now I know how we get ripped off I will make sure I do some research before I get another ARTF. What size four stroke is in the plane? Looks like a very nice flying plane! I have some ARF's but do like to build better also, Just something about seeing something you built with your own two hands fly, Its a hoot!
My Doctor told me I would need allot more therapy so I bought more planes! |

Because it would seem that the art and enjoyment of building from plans or kits has been lost. Its a real pitty. The fallacy in that logic is that the factories make enough for them to warrant changing their practices if purchasers protest, to the point that it hurts sales. The recent economic problems have revealed that this is not the case. Most of the ARF factories, either closed up shop or retooled for other unrelated products. If sales drop, they merely leave the business. Re: Why? Personally, if I had the time I might build kits. During the season, I rather be flying though. |
