I was kind of worried about that too. I hink I am going to go ahead and get the fagen decal set and it wouldn't be an issue anymore. Black doesn't exactly stand out against the red in the distance,

i flown the mx2 today ( it was sunny) just to make sure that wether its sunny or clloudy you cant notice top from bottom. my verdict is that its impossible to do so with the basic colours of the wing area. so decided to modify it and here is the result

Looks good, is that the top or the bottom? Must be the top because I can't see the servo.

Last year Tim told me he was be working on a Sukhoi SU-26 to be introduced sometime this year. Do you know anything about that?

Very nice, I'd like to see a pic of the plane put together with that design on it.

Oh, I remember that now... I'll ask Tim about it.

Got My Motrolfly 4325-310 in for the mx2. I highly recommend these motors, best build quality that I have seen. Ken over at subsonic planes is a great guy too and custom winds these motors. CS is worth the extra money I must say. Hopefully will have it mounted today and post some pics

Cool, I can't wait to see some vid on 8cell to see if it's the power I'm looking for.

This thing will be a powerhouse! Unfortunately my ice 75 went up in flames this morning while testing the bec. So I won't be able to maiden it for a few weeks. Check out the videos of this motor in this thread, this is what convinced me

I'm running an Evolution GT28 on my MX so I have a longer distance from servo to throttle lever so I elected to mount a Hitec HS-82MG at the rear of the engine box and connect it with a CF rod I fabricated. Please note from the photos added a piece of a servo arm to my throttle arm in order to maintain the proper ratio (1:1) of servo to arm travel.

Just from the top of my head a Hacker A50 14L running on more than 8S will draw way over 90Amps with anything bigger than a 18X8 prop. Adding a BEC don't help matters anyhow. I may recommend a minimum of an 110 HV Ice for that combination. Were can one find Hacker specs on the Internet?

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

I know what I'm doing..

I am running the Motrolfly 310kv on 8s. I will be seeing a max of 80a and the ice 75 takes bursts over 100. I will not be using the bec, I was simply using the bec to set the servo's without the motor installed. It went up in flames during this test. Something faulty in the esc caused the fire. A 14l on 8s would draw the same and one should not run the 14l on anything more than 8s.

install pics. I used 2.5 inch hex standoffs bought online (threaded on both sides) and used washers to figure out the final distance and tweak the shaft position a bit to make it perfect center. This is an extremely solid mounting method, that motor isn't going anywhere.

I really like that! Just use plain white covering?

AvatarQ8 01-30-2011 01:55 PM

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

zachfeen i think you can use that, but for me i have a friend who owns a custom stickers/decals shop. i satyed with him we made the design then he custom made the stickers and installed them in

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

Ahh I see. Very nice either way. I think I may still go the easy route and use the Fagen decals, might try it without decals to see first though

zachfeen yeh give it a shot without the decals maybe you have better eyes than mine http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ades_smile.gif

well decided not to risk it. Just went ahead and ordered the Fagen graphics. I know I am not skilled enough to do something like you did. Scale is always good too

That sure looks like I very solid install. Excuse me if I was perceived to be condescending, that was just my unqualified opinion: I am sorry.
