Yak-55m ''so ugly, it's beautiful!'' :D I felt the same way about yaks until I owned one, and now I love them!
Yeah... they are different; and as all Russian designed planes the full size version is built like a tank. Though I like the Yak, I love the lines of the Sukhoi much beter. So Tim let me know when the 30cc Sukhois are on their way so I send you the deposit[sm=lol.gif].
I'm the same as you raf.. I love yak's but those nice sleek and sexy lines the sukhoi's have are eye-catching :D

That new Yak 55 or 54 Tim is offering are both eye catching .. so now i'm stumped if i get the mx2 or one of those..

Tim your planes are too tempting!!!! now i dunno which to get... But i do need another good 3D plane.

Also which engine will fly the mx2 better the JC [which i've seen T3beatz flying the heck out of it] or getting a DLE 30 in the nose??

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

as you've seen the JC does very well with it.  the DLE has a little more power I suspect but ti will go unused in this light frame.  So I would save yourself the money, but you can choose whichever you want.  You won't be unhappy.

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

one more thing to help your choice Nightscream,  as of right now the JC is pretty much a direct bolt on right out of the box for the MX2... so less work in building and more time in the air!! LOL.  Its a great combo either way both engines run great, I don't own the DLE 30 but I know a couple people who do.  The JC has been flawless for me to date, I have had 0 dead sticks with it and as you saw in the video the pull out is excellent!

I will love to have a 30% Sukhoi but now Tim is bending my mind with the possibility of offering a MXS-R. Now that's a fine looking plane. Just take a look at the photo of Nigel Lamb's yellow beauty. I want one[sm=tongue_smile.gif]

By the way, I don't have a JC engine myself but what I have seen of Toms JC Evo powered Sbach the JC seems like a very powerful and reliable powerplant. And you can't beat the price.

Dang that MXS-R looks sweet.. If i remember right isn't that the one nigel used in last year's race?

Well you guys have me at 85-87% convinced to buy the JC engine combo with the MX2..

Also i already got my hands at least to touch and see the JC28 engine in my hands while i'm here in florida.. sadly i rarely got time to see the field or visit hobbyshops these days. The engine looks quite well built and the ppl at the hobby shop that distribute them assured me of their performance and strenght also..

Um T3beatz which prop and size are you using in your JC engine for 3D?

T3beatz 10-26-2010 10:13 PM

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

right now and in the last video I had a 18x6 Hawk prop, great price and performance,  Redwing has them in stock.  the 19x6 prop works great also.

Night Scream. I rarely fly the 28 at full throttle. The plane is very fast with an 18-6. I'm using a Xoar laminated on mine but hear the Hawk is very good also.

Hey Air Tech. I just wanted to let you know that I recognized Nigel's plane in front of the Parliament in Budapest.

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

You are correct. that's Nigel last year MXS-R. This year he added a pair of very exotic winglets that look quite impressive, althoug I beleive may be inpractical (to fragile) in an R/C model.

Go for it; you wont regret buying the JC28 is quite a nice engine. I'm planning on getting one for a mystery ship I will be working on this winter.

Hey Tom how about a trip to the next Red Bull Air Races in Hungary or the Czech Republic? I will love to visit the old continent before I get too old.

Winglets? Is there a photo somewhere

There are not many photos out there but I have this one I captured at the 2010 Windsor Red Bull Races. There is a [link=http://www.nigellamb.com/index.php?section=835&simple=go&type=item&id=4812]VIDEO[/link] you may find very interesting in which Lamb explains the purpose of the winglets. Please note, (more notable) on the video the redesigned cowl air inlets for the 2010 plane, a clear departure from the off the shelf MXS-R

One thing I love on this color scheme is its beautiful simplicity and the extreme contrast offered by an all yellow fuse with black bottom wings; a definite must for the slightly vision impaired old fogies...like me.

Thanks for the link, looking at both props the Hawk and the Falcon, they seem to be the same thing... from the same company, just a different name, and both are large birds of prey!! lol

I was just at goldwings site an they say the rear stab is removeable.
When I was atn the field last week a friend of mine had the 50 cc mx in green it had a removeablestab an the servo's were in the stab

RedwingRC 10-28-2010 12:14 PM

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

It is not removeable.  WIth the 30cc size no one ever takes it off anyway it seems and it adds a little extra weight.  But we are curious to hear customer feedback on this.  What would you prefer?  the servos would still not be in the tail, as the 30cc size is too small to house them.  Unless you went with Minis, but I don't know a Mini that I would trust for this size currently

T3beatz 10-28-2010 02:57 PM

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

Removable would be a good option to speed up the building process, I guess.  Just slide the stabs on and screw them in... though it would add weight to the tail, so they would have to redesign something else up front. <div>

I will even pay the extra cost if any to have a removable stab. Sometimes is really handy when you have a small vehicle or you need to crate it for shipping on checked baggage. Besides if you crack the fuse in a case of dumb thumbs you can always purchase a fuse and transfer the undamaged stab, which is mostly the case in most accidents. I prefer to purchase a fuselage rather than spend a lot of time mending a broken one. Right now I am repairing my GP Extra 330S and I had to hack the stab out of the trashed fuse. brake off the hinges on one elevator half in order to install it on the replacement fuselage. By the way having the elevator servos in the tail instead of the stab saves one the chore of plugging/unplugging the connectors and of having extra long extensions. Instead all you need to do is remove the arms from the servos slide the stabs off and you are on your way.

kerwin50 10-28-2010 09:20 PM

RE: RedWing MX2 Build

Yeah it said the 30cc mx had removable stabs
An of course when I seen the 50 cc mx with it's removable stab I thought how neat.
I almost bought the 50cc mx, as he shot me a super low price for it
He wanted to do a combo with the red lion 58 but I don't know much about that motor.
He's going to be getting a shippment of goldwing planes somtime in the next few weeks.
I'm still deciding if I want the mx or the sbach
The only thing I don't like about the sbach is the color scheme on the underside

At least one of your competitors is doing it: http://www.aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=461

As you noted, the servo goes in the fuselage. It certainly speeds the build and makes aligning the tail feathers a non-issue. As others have noted, it makes transport easier in some situations too. It it worth an ounce of tail weight? Dunno there.
