Default Blades colliding into each other mid flight

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Was given an RC Heli for Christmas this year and have run into a problem already. The inevitable crashes have caused the top blades or gyro to collide into the bottom blades while in flight. I've tested this by holding and tilting the heli and with enough tilt and quick movements they collide. As these types of movements will occur in normal flight it makes it impossible to fly.
Can I ask if anyone has experience in fixing this type of issue?
The model is a syma s107g. The top blades when power is off do drop below the bottom blades. Is this normal?
Thanks for any info offered!
